First ate here a year ago, the place was packed with people and the food was good - something that was hard to find in Dayton, IMHO. The old brick interior with the massive bar with beveled glass gives you an instant glimpse into generations...More

Based on past experiences I was looking forward to a fun relaxing dinner with another couple. It was not pleasant. Starting with the parking, you have to pay in advance or get towed. There was not adequate signage, so I only heard about it after...More

This restaurant use to be one of the best seafood restaurants in the Dayton area, and use to visit it frequently. However, over the past few years the both the service and food as dramatically gone down. It’s a shame. Also, the atmosphere is extremely...More

My wife and I tried Jays again, thought we would give them another chance. My wife had their walleye and I had scallops. The walleye was dry and the scallops were tough with no sweetness. The service was ok but the food took forever to...More

If you’re looking for a place to take a significant other and love sea food, this is where it’s at. The setting is beautiful, elegant, and for some it’s romantic. The quality of food definitely out shines all the other seafood places in the area....More

Had an ok dinner. Did not get any seafood, but the steak was good, salad average. Great key lime pie. Parking situation is ridiculous. Very few spots and now they have a company that helps them charge for parking. Don't get caught without paying for...More

Stopped here on a Sunday night. Jay's has an interesting interior with dark wood and stained glass. We started with Moscow Mules that were too sweet and produced a terrific headache. The guy who shucked my oysters butchered each one into several pieces. House salads...More

The only place for fresh seafood and choice libations with an historic flair. Always a first choice.

This place always has great food and the best Clam Chowder this side of Boston but they need to pick up the pace a bit. Delicious seafood, great wine selection and a hidden gem in Dayton

Jay's Seafood Restaurant has been family owned and operated for 41 years. Specializing in fresh seafood, steaks and fine wine at reasonable prices. Our story is rich in history. During the period ranging into the late 1800's, Dayton was one of the leading areas in the nation for flour milling. One of these mills, located on the Miami Erie Canal, was known as the Joseph Kratochwill Dayton Corn and Grist Mill. This building was constructed in the 1850's. Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight you are dining in the former Dayton Corn and Grist Mill.. In 1882, James Jacob Ritty opened the Pony House Restaurant. He commissioned wood carvers from Barney and Smith Car Works to turn 5,400 pounds of Honduras Mahogany into a bar. The fruit of their labors is the bar you now see standing in Jay's. Join us seven nights a week for a great dining experience
