It goes without saying that the bagels, hot chocolate and pastries of various kinds are wonderful and reasonably priced in this pricey city. What struck me the most was the sense of community, clients who were clearly regulars and well known. The staff showed gracious manners to everyone. Though busy (and it does get crowded) everyone was treated with kindness... More

We had to stop here because it's Zabar's. We solely sought out the chocolate babka to shove into our luggage and then shovel into our mouths with friends that weren't lucky enough to join us... but lucky enough to agree to watch our dog. So, so good. Buy some, then buy some more. They deliver nationally, so yeah, we'll be... More

Ordered a cappuccino with almond milk and one Zabars famous Bagels and lox. It was delicious!!! Shared a table with a few others that seemed to be regular guests as they all new each other and everyone that came and out while I was sitting there. A great way to start a freezing New York City day.

We were recommended this place as an authentic new york deli with delicious food and this isn't far off. It satisfied our 'traditional' experience but the food, although nice, wasn't anything overly special. We had two of the hot sandwiches/paninis and a pastry. It does get very busy so i would recommend arriving slightly before or after normal lunch hours.

The place gets crowded, so expect to spend some time here. This place has it all including an amazing smoked fish counter where they slice the fish for you on the spot. The bakery and deli are both quite good. The staff is also super friendly and helpful. While they have "to go" foods this is more of a market... More

What's a visit to New York City without a stop at Zabar's on the Upper West Side? We've been known, enroute from Boston to North Carolina, to drive into the city, braving the traffic, and then circle the 2200 block of Broadway a few times while a couple of us run into Zabar's. Zabar's is one of the great institutions... More

We always come to Zabar's when in New York. Great fresh food at great prices and you sit around common dining tables so get to eat and chat with the locals. The serving staff are friendly and attentive and know how to make GREAT soups - fantastic evening healthy and hearty fare after a long winter's day wandering Manhattan's neighbourhoods.
