My best friend used to live directly across the street from Dell'Anima, being an East Village resident, I never cared too much to visit, but when I was meeting a friend for dinner I decided why not pick a place I had never been. Ahhh Dell'Anima, small, cozy, laced with amazing tunes,an open kitchen, attracts a hard working/good looking crowd,... More

It's amazing watching the chef and cooks working, probably the most efficient and smallest kitchen in NYC. Their passion and dedication show and the energy levels at this cozy restaurant is unbeatable. Just had the best tenderest steak ever last night. Their salads are portioned just right and the flavors of the dressing are fresh, crisp and savory. Been here... More

The room is always packed on the weekend (and for good reason). Amazing service, extensive wine list, delicious food. Make sure to reserve a table. We sat at half-past 11 PM and we're still thankful we thought ahead. Start with the various bruschetta!

Intimate fine Italian dining that was delicious, well priced and fun! After an outrageously expensive Italian dinner at Del Posto, we found this to be a breath of fresh air. The short ribs were better than I've ever had.

We were referred to this restaurant by one of my wife's colleagues and we are glad he did. The food was very tasty and served in a very friendly way. Down to earth food is part of the menu to most tastes including some excellent desserts all served in a very friendly atmosphere.

We have been for a brunch on Saturday. The brunch menu is different from dinner. I had some fried eggs with Shrimp and polenta (tasty, not bad), and my friend a carbonara. One glass of vine and one cocktail. 100$ with the tip. Restaurants in this area are expansive, but I think then it is not worth it, I can... More

Salty salty salty. We would have definitely given them five stars if the pastas and bone marrow weren't so salty. And we even requested our dishes to be low salt having read the reviews about the saltiness.... but they did not fulfill our request... These dishes were absolutely perfect: - endive with anchovy vinaigrette- fantastic. Absolutely delicious and perfect -... More

Definitely worth the trip...ate at the bar with a friend of mine started with the sweetbreads and arugla salad (both very good) and then had two pastas...the carbonara which you MUST get and then squid ink linguine. There is the chefs bar....see the food prepared and then a bar in the front of the restaurant where drinks are served. The chefs... More

I had a choice of sitting outside or at the counter that enabled me to view the kitchen. No hesitation, I took advantage of the opportunity to observe the kitchen. It was the right call. The head chef and two sous chefs were like a well oiled machine. These guys have a system, they stick to it, and it works.... More

This is one of my sister's favorite restaurants. She comes her so often the chef says hi to her. We always get the same thing, pasta with tomato sauce (has chilis in it, but I get it without that). It seems simple, but it's so delicious. You usually can't get food this good outside of Italy. Their polenta (loaded with... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
