The atmosphere feels authentic, lots of the customers are New Yorkers in their lunch break etc. The menu is large and there are specials of the day. A huge array of sandwiches, burgers etc and some items that are very particular to NY. We had 2 meals here despite only having 5 days in NYC as it was so good,... More
Breakfast is above average and they get people in and out so even if there's a line you won't wait too long. Food is good and will visit again.
My group had a good meal at the Astro. I ordered breakfast (in the afternoon) and it was good and reasonably priced. I would go back.
After reading the reviews, our family expected a quintessential NYC diner breakfast. We were staying just a few blocks away in Midtown. We were seated pretty quickly. Service was attentive at first. The food was "fine". Kids loved the pancakes. My omelette was overcooked. We had to ask for water refills. We left feeling it was pretty expensive for average... More
This diner was just down the block from our hotel. Great food and good service. The menu was huge with lots of variety. The value for money was great. Overall this is one of the best diners I've been to. And for new york I felt like it's a good go-to spot. Especially for breakfast.
This a return visit. It was better the first time but it is still good and I may return. I have the banana stuffed French toast which was excellent. My wife had an omelette that she was happy with. Fortunately they will serve you REAL maple syrup for an up charge.
Looks old fashioned but many diners are like this in NYC. Staff are very rude, wouldn't let someone sit down at a bigger table until all his party had arrived. Told me off for not giving exactly 15% tip ( was 50cents short) but the tipping situation in NYC is always frustrating. Food ok decent omelette with potatoes and toast... More
This place is excellent - had breakfast here three times when travelling on business and staying at Midtown Hilton. Very friendly staff, delicious pancakes, omeletes, bacon and eggs. Great coffee. Old school booths. Fantastic!
Overpriced less than mediocre food. Out of pancakes for breakfast, seriously?! Bland eggs with underdone hash browns and rushed service.
