We visited this bar during a Saint Patrick's weekend visit. The staff are friendly and the beer and food is very good.

Came to New York back in May of 2015, met my aunt for the first time here. Re-visited the pub February of 2017, still the same lively pub! The bartenders are quite the show! very energetic and attentive! Considering i was a solo attendee, the crowd within the pub had so much character! Broke some barriers and chimed in on the... More

There was limited Irish food selections-/ I could only find two items (fish and chips and Shepherd's pie). The shepherds pie had instant mashed potatoes on the top. I thought the meat tasted like taco meat. I was pretty disappointed. And bar looked nice although I had nothing alcoholic to drink. The music was a little too loud and I... More

Enjoyed the experience. Food was terrific. I had the salmon and my 2 guests had the steak sandwiches. Had a very pleasant waitress from Ireland. Would not hesitate to go back. May even go Saturday!

We live just outside NYC and when we go for the day, we always know we can get a fantastic meal for a good price (especially comfort food during the cold weather)...we have never been disappointed!

Bar downstairs is noisy. Upstairs bar/restaurant area also has pretty loud music so I wouldn't say it's romantic lol. Drinks were not bad. Food decent but nothing special. Service at tables could have been better....they tended to disappear. Prices were OK for NYC. Overall very average.

We popped in to the Pig N Whistle on our last day of being in NYC. Greeted st the door and offered a table for two, our waiter sat us down together. First off our drinks; Guinness and a Stella, the Guinness here was good, the closest I've tasted to home. We ordered food, I had the corned beef sandwich... More

After walking all over Manhattan we decided to have dinner close to our hotel. Just a few doors from Kimpton Muse we found the Pig n Whistle. We had a great meal (burgers and fries mostly) but it was delicious, hot and served promptly. The service was friendly. Our waiter was obviously new to the place but very good.

Specialties Sports Bar Live Music Brunch Irish Pub & Restaurant History Established in 1969. It all started back in 1969 at the opening of a restaurant and a bar called "Pig n Whistle" by John Mahon and Pete Mcgee. The original restaurant was located in the Old Townhouse of President Taft on West 48th street, in the heart of New York's Rockefeller Center, the friendly people and atmosphere quickly became the meeting place for New York's literary and banking elite. The new "Pig and Whistle" on West 46th Street, in the heart of the theatre district, has the look and the feel of the historic townhouse where it all began. From the red brick walls and paneling on back bar, upstairs bar that is available for private parties and balcony overlooking 46th street, "Pig and Whistle" continues to follow the same detail and style as that gracious home in Rockefeller Center. Meet the Business Owner John M. Business Owner John Mahon son of the original owner will take over the reins in the business. He has trained and worked at many other fantastic restaurants in midtown Manhattan such as Langan's, Blooms Tavern, Pig'n'Whistle on 2 nd Ave and Pig n Whistle 48 street. Helena White will also join John in the management side. Helena has been based in New York for many year where she has gained her experience in Langan's, Pig'n'Whistle 47 th street and more recently PJ Moran's John and Helena's experience coupled with their local knowledge will ensure your visit will be one you will truly remember.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
