We came to Ammos Estiatorio as we were on our way to a theatre production and we thought that we would have dinner here. We were actually seated immediately and the service was very good, as they do get a lot of people coming in either before or after the Broadway shows. If you are looking for seafood, Ammos Estiatorio... More

Excellent food and a lot of it. Wonderfully broad Greek/Med. menu. However, service was friendly but inept and the place is NOISY!

The atmosphere inside is so nice. (^^)/ Breads comes with big tasty olives and olive's oil. When all is said and done, waiter showed us fresh fish a lot and explained gently, politely before we order . Highly recommened !!

I don't know a lot about Greek food, but the traditional Greek meat sauce ( a very nice Bolognese style sauce) was quite delicious. This would be a great place to get fresh seafood as well.

The gigantes are fantastic! The Avacado salad, superb! The red snapper, very good. Service was great AND bad! I ordered the seafood moussaka which I didn't care for at all... too fishy, but when I put it aside, it sat there for 10+ min! No one came and asked how the food was!

Took a chance here given mixed earlier reviews. Busy on a Wednesday evening. Our waiter was having a good time, which made our meal a lot of fun, too. The octopus appetizer was good, not great. However, Ammos has an eclectic, wide range of fish entrees, and the kitchen really shines here. Mostly grilled. All looked wonderful. Ours were done... More

This restaurant left me irritated. We work In the area and walked in early. 5:30. Barely any patrons. We asked for a booth and were told yes if we would eat but when the airhead hostess sat us, she insisted we couldn't get one because we were only 2 people and sat us at a tiny table in between the... Looking for a place near Grand Central for a business lunch for four. Authentically Greek food -- think competantly prepared seafood, grilled octopus and more -- in comfortable surroundings. Professional, competant staff, good noise level for talking. Very good choice. Would come back for dinner too.

I met a friend I hadn't seen in a while and after ordering wine we wanted to chat. The waiter kept on coming over interrupting our conversation to take our order despite our saying we were not ready to order. Wait staff needs to be aware of customers status. While the food was good I can't rate higher because of... More

We went there for dinner without a reservation. The lady at the reception desk was very kind and welcoming but that was about the only good impression I have about the restaurant. We were seated at the very back corner which was fair enough without a reservation. But the light was so poor we had to get our phone camera... More
