I am so happy that I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. The food and drinks were so good. The owner and waitress were so personable and sincerely pleasant that I felt like I was eating dinner at home with family and friends. I will be back very soon.

We needed a place for a pre-theater dinner in the West Village of NYC. It was by happenstance that we stopped at Gaetana's; it was along the walking route from where we parked to the theater that was our destination. We entered with a bit of trepidation; unimpressive from the outside, not particularly busy (although it was early for a... More

A friend suggested we eat here before a play at the IRT Theatre, an experimental theatre diagonally across from Gaetana's. At 5 pm the place was mostly empty, and we had great service. It's got a lot of atmosphere and lots of dark wood. The bar is the full length of the room. We started with Irish coffee and shared... More

Visited for the first time, and were more than pleasantly rewarded with delicious scampi, linguine with clams and lobster ravioli, not to mention the warmest welcome from Frankie and his staff. Frankie is everyone's favorite uncle, it really is a hidden gem in the city, hope to return soon. I can't speak highly enough, you must try for yourself. Thanks... More

The people here are very friendly and will do everything to make you comfortable. We had the linguini with clams and one of the specials, the lobster ravioli, it was divine! Really a good starter of our New York trip!

This was the best eating place we visited during all of our NYC trip. From beginning to end a superlative experience in this comfortable, charming, clean and welcoming restaurant (gay friendly). Our waitress was most welcoming and charming and was really interested in delivering a great dining experience. The food is wonderful and they give large portions so plan on... More

It looked good on Trip Advisor. Cute. Cozy. Close to my daughter's dorm. Perfect! And it was exactly that! The waitress, was the real deal Italian, and was charming and helpful. We shared the fried calamari and a stuffed artichoke for appetizers. The latter was just like my wife's grandmother used to make many years ago. Excellent choices. For main... More

Each time I come here be food is on point. I love the quiet location... Can't get enough of the chicken parmesan and all of their wine selections. I come here at least once per month. Just love it

I've been going to Gaetana's for over 10 years now. It is a nice little place in the West Village. The food is excellent and the service is friendly. The prices are not high either. It has an old time bar the travels almost the length of the restaurant. If you like Frank Sin. Music then this place is for... More

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
