Excellent sushi combo (69 $ for two persons) in a rather quiet and friendly place. Very good price / quality; it is not a special Japanese kitchen, but for this price I have eaten much worse in NY! The owners are very friendly.

Small sushi place that appears to the be overflow when the wait at ippudo is too long. Not too crowded, reasonable prices and a decent sake list. Nice little bar in the back and you came either estate be sushi bar or at a table. Fried avocado is a tasty app.

I had the 2 spicy tuna and salmon avocado roll special with salad. It was excellent and fresh!! I also had 2 sushi pics that were great. I will be back... More

The family had a craving for a mix of Japanese food dishes in addition to various sushi selections...Shimizu Restaurant instantly popped up AND it was just a few blocks away from our hotel! Made reservations for a late dinner...early openings were unfortunately already gone!!! Una Ju, Tofu teriyaki, spicy tuna rolls, miso soup, tempura ice cream, even chocolate mousse!!! Everything... The meal was good the staff need to brush up on their table side manner. They weren't the welcoming merry makers that you have come to expect from top level servers.

We were a table of two adults. The place looks very clean, the waitress was pleasent. Their sushi was fresh ans amazing as well as the seaweed salad and miso soup. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed our dinner. Great wait staff too! Convenient to all NYC Broadway theatre. Loved the red bean ice cream for dessert. Complimentary 'potato salad' was a hit with everyone.

Shimizu serves delicious, authentic, Japanese sushi in a small restaurant tucked into the lobby of the Hotel Washington. Put yourself at the mercy of Chef Shimizu, and you will be rewarded with excellent quality fresh fish, beautifully presented. This is traditional sushi ... elegantly served, meticulously prepared. There are other, "cooler" sushi venues in New York. Ichimura, Nobu, Masa, Nakazawa,... More

Enjoyed a nice lunch at the sushi bar. They were able to accommodate my wife's request for soy paper instead of the traditional seaweed. What sushi we did order was well prepared and executed. Very traditional in this regard. It's quite an intimate setting so we were please we were seated at all.

Thank f s

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
