Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came here for some dinner and drinks and had a great time! The atmosphere is that of a speak easy, the drinks were delicious and the food was good! My buddy didn’t realize that the hot dog he ordered wasn’t technically a hot dog, more of a brisket, but he seemed to enjoy it. My mother in law and I both god burgers which were delicious. I won’t ruin how to get here (plenty of people have already done that), but it is really cool and impressed my friends. The host and server were friendly, my only complaint is that the music was too loud and sometimes made it hard to hear. Make a reservation at PDT as soon as you can, and enjoy your visit!

PDT (Please Don’t Tell) in New York is a hidden gem for cocktail enthusiasts seeking a unique and speakeasy experience. The entrance through a phone booth in Crif Dogs adds to the intrigue. The cocktail menu is a creative masterpiece, with each drink expertly crafted and served in distinctive glassware. The cozy and dimly lit interior, complete with vintage decor, sets the perfect mood for intimate conversations. The attentive staff adds to the charm, making each visit a memorable one. PDT is not just a bar; it’s an adventure into the world of exceptional cocktails and secret hideaways in the heart of the city.

A-MAZING!!!! FANTASTIC!!!! Absolutely delicious drinks and impeccable service! Sam the waiter and Jamie the hostess were beyond incredible. We were a group of six that met up in NYC to celebrate a 50th Birthday! The staff at PDT was so accommodating and genuinely beautiful people! The drinks were some of the best we ever had! Don’t think about coming here…. JUST DO IT!!! Thanks for a stupendous experience!

They did not let us in and were clearly very racist. I went there with one of my friends 3 times and they denied entry all 3 times. We waited for 3 hours once and still didn’t get entry that too on a Tuesday and I could clearly see the tables were empty inside when the guy opened the door a little to talk to us. VERY RACIST PLACE. I am from India and I even told them I felt they were being very unfair and they just shut the door to my face and denied entry for no reason at all.

I've been to this speakeasy before and it's a really cool place. BUT, I made a reservation on resy for June 19 at 1pm (2 people). Three hours before my reservation time I received a text asking to confirm that I was still coming. When I arrived they were closed! Additionally an employee at Crif Dog's told me they don't open until 5pm. When I called the phone number I got a recording telling me the number was not in service. Really not sure what to make of this situation. I do know that reservations should not be accepted for a time the establishment is closed. Bad business and very inconsiderate.

Regurarly reserved a table via Resy (you can reserve ONLY via Resy, no other options). Received both email and sms with confirmation. Entered the phone cabin at 9,40pm (in the reservation process is clearly stated that the table is kept for 15 minutes), on time. A staff member opened the door saying that no reservation results in their system and that they are not Resy. I tried to explain that if you have only one option to reserve a table you are RESPONSIBLE of that. Anyway, I waited ten minutes more and tried again. I asked very kindly to check again my name and they did not (same person, blonde person...not sure that they actually checked at the first round). Then, this person just brutally closed the door when I tried to show the email confirmation that included my name and hours. Guys, you are not the Berghain and should take care of your operations (and clients...). If the system reservation via Resy does not work correctly, fix it. Anyway, this is not the way to make food/experience. Very bad and never go there

Cool speakeasy style bar, accessed through a phone booth in the diner next door. I had a house cocktail - pear excellence, which was well balanced and tasty. I didn’t make a reservation, but as I was on my own, I was happy to sit at the bar. Bar staff were attentive and also happy to let me sit there on my phone quietly. Drinks aren’t cheap - $17 plus tax and tip.

Great ambience and excellent cocktails. The novelty of the speak easy theme is quite charming as well. I visited this bar a few years ago, finding it nestled in a hotdog restaurant. Once you slip through the secret door its like entering a different world entirely.

Absolutely loved the ambiance and cocktails, waitress was lovely attentive friendly and knowledgeable. Place is beautifully decorated with a unique feel. Only reason o gave 4/5 is we were seated in a booth right next to slide door toilets which everyone kept leaving door open too not nice PDT consider changing booth to maybe a high rise table and chairs, seated here ask to be moved as not a pleasant experience.

Really cool speakeasy with a fun way of getting in. We didn’t have a line as we went on a Thursday. The barman Victor was soooo nice and chatty and fun. His drinks were amazing and delicious (black diamond and a g&t based one). The ambience and decor was super cool. Wish London had more places like this.

Slow service. I mean real slow. Static almost, and not like static electricity. Cocktails were poor, 1 in 10 was fantastic, but general quality sucked. Walk a block and you'll be sure to find a better bar experience.

Great experience. We didn’t have a booking but we were given a table straight away. Great fun food, good drinks, lovely atmosphere. Quirky entrance part of the experience.

Reservation very hard to get for a Friday night but I managed to score a 9:30 ressie, which was perfect after dinner. East Village is totally vibing at that time. Secret entryway was totally fun! Hostess was super friendly and got us seated by the bar with Victor making our drinks. Drinks have long names and fancy ingredients, and they were fantastic. I even got my birthday drink and a card from Victor and the team! Music was great but not too loud. I totally enjoyed the evening!

This is a classic speakeasy. Hidden away, tiny room, dark setting, and great drinks. We loved it and had a great time.

East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
