Degustation appealed to my friend and I, as we enjoy being able to sample a tasting menu as opposed to purchasing one whole meal. The chef here has some serious skill. Starting off our eight course menu we had an amuse that consisted of an oyster garnished with an edible flower. I couldn't begin to tell you what all the... More

We like to see a place withstand the test of time! We came here about 3 yrs ago and had an amazing meal. We had chefs tasting menu last time and enjoyed each morsel. Only caveat-portions somewhat small ( we are used to many tasting menus) and husband did leave not completely full. Fast forward to earlier this month- new... More

This place is a great for foodies. Fresh food that is literally prepared in front of you. Small place and very quiet. Highly recommend!

This is still one of our favorite place to eat in NY. The restaurant is tiny (converted Japanese restaurant space), so it's essentially an L-shaped sushi bar. You can choose a la carte or chef's tasting menu (which features items not on the a la carte menu). Wow, it's an explosion of flavors and everything was done impeccably. Since it's... More

The food was creative and delicious. The four of us loved every bite and the wine pairing was well done. I liked the seating setup but not the one ther three. Service was tio-top. Will go back in a heart beat.

We made a reservation 1,5 weeks in advance because of the good review in the lonely Planet. Arriving arround 20.30PM on a saturday night we entered the almost empty 18 Seat restaurant. The two hostes handed the menu and winelist. We did our research and ordered the 7 course tasting menu (€85) and asked if there was a food/wine paring.... More

First time my husband and I opted for the seven course chef's tasting menu - it was exquisite!! Second time, we went with a friend of ours and we ordered a la carte. We shared Croquetas, Spiced Carrot, Roasted Squash, Gambas a la Plancha, Crisp Octopus, Striped Bass, Skirt Steak and Quail - so basically, 80% of their menu! Everything... More

I have been to this restaurant on several occasions, and each time had a pleasant experience. This time our party of three ordered the tasting menu. The dishes ranged from interesting to excellent. There were a few misses, but on average a very good food experience.

Bar seating was the originality of the restaurant. Watching one of the cooks having a beer while working was unusual. Three of us tried 8 dishes and most of them tasted great. The hostess was very helpful.

Small place with bar style seating. Dishes were prepared in full view of diners which was entertaining. We opted not to do the chefs tasting as there were certain items on the menu that we really wanted to try. Our two favorites were the fresh vegetable salad with delicata squash and the grilled octopus with squid ink cream sauce. Both... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
