Lines are long but well worth the wait. The chocolate chip nut cookies are the best you will taste in New York. This little bakery has become so popular they opened another store around the corner. make sure you visit and have an amazing taste.

Worth standing online for one of these cookies. Buy extras and cut them in quarters and freeze them for a good bite!

There’s not much else to say except that the cookies at Levain are delicious! My fave is chocolate chip with walnuts! They are served warm right from the oven!!!

This place is a little tucked away but it’s worth seeking it out. The queues/lines can be longish but take that as a good sign. The cookies were a hit with our group. I guess in the UK we’d call them cakes as they are...More

Moist. Buttery. Massive! One cookie could feed a family of 4... very happily. Chocolate peanut butter is my personal favorite but they are all to die for.

This bakery is great! As soon as you walk through the door you’re greeted with the sweet smell of fresh baking and coffee, there’s nothing better than that. We bought cookies, cinnamon brioche, a slice of coffee cake and a couple drinks. It was all...More

You walked over to this little bakery (and I do mean little) after a trip to the American History Museum. My husband went in while the rest of us waited outside...it's a tight squeeze, down stairs, and the place was packed...so I have no idea...More

I love their chocolate chip cookies!!! I have to restrain myself from getting too many! Best straight from the oven!!! The lines are shorter now - especially at the Harlem outpost. Great for a gift too!

We were sitting in a park eating a hotdog up on Broadway when we started chatting with a gentleman who was also eating his lunch. The conversation turned to food and he told us about a bakery just around the corner from where we were...More

I would say 1-2 days. The decadent cookie is soft and the chocolate gooey. Just had them again yesterday!

Nestled in New York City's Upper West Side, Levain headquarters is a cozy neighborhood bakery where locals are greeted by name. A steady stream of loyal regulars stand side by side with tourists, eager to sample the legendary baked goods. From an inventive array of rustic breads to the world-famous six-ounce chocolate chip walnut cookie, everything is baked on-site, fresh every day from the finest natural ingredients. What doesn't sell that day goes to help feed the hungry-a mission that has been solidly in place since the beginning. The bakery was founded in 1994 by friends Connie McDonald and Pam Weekes. At the time, Connie was in banking and Pam in Fashion. The two, both competitive swimmers, trained together for the Ironman and-not surprisingly, as their tireless workouts left them feeling starved for great food- they began a passionate dialog about creating the world's greatest chocolate chip cookie. Within just a few years, Levain Bakery had become a neighborhood institution and a destination for epicurious travelers from around the world. Demand continued to grow. In 2000, to satisfy their regular clientele summering in the Hamptons, the two opened a second bakery in the village of Wainscott on Long Island's East End. And today, through their website, they now ship their world-famous cookies to happy fans around the globe.
