Our hotel recommended this little bistro, we were very pleasantly surprised, it was reasonably priced and the food was excellent, I can recommend the mushroom risotto. Staff were attentive.

A wonderful corner bistro with something for everyone. Many of the dished have a French flair, and an adequate number of choices. The pre theater price fixe menu was not only delicious but quite affordable.

My wife and I were staying at The Bentley and Bistro 61 is very close so we thought we would give it a try. I had an endive salad which had very good flavors(candied pecans, green apples, endive and balsamic) portion was average size. My wife had the french onion soup and it was very good. Entrees: I had thewild... More

I have eaten here once only. I recommend this bistro heartily. Excellent food in every course: incredible Moule, Salade, and the Salmon and Risotto. In fact everything was good. 61 is informal and welcoming. As it filled with happy people it seemed an ever-expanding family place finally arrived. Must try; muster-visit.

Visiting my kids again from the UK and just had to pay another visit to this little gem. After a little over ayear it was pleasing to note that nothing had changed. It's just a true to itself small French Bistro serving great food at reasonable prices. The French Onion Soup was as always piping hot and delicious, the Croc... More

I spent a good many hours researching a place to have thanksgiving dinner and found the reviews for this restaurant to be very good. And we were not disappointed! We booked a table for 6pm and arrived early but were immediately accommodated and seated at the window table. The restaurant is small and quaint. They have a wonderful selection of... More

Bistro 61 is a great neighborhood French restaurant on the upper east side of Manhattan--off the tourist track! The French onion soup was devine--worth going just for that! The menu is typically French. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and evening. On Wednesday evenings (when we happen to go) there is live entertainment. Good food; good service; good atmosphere!

I dined here during my visit at a local hotel, and was quite pleasantly surprised. Although it doesn't look like much from the exterior, the food selection and service is great. Billed as a French restaurant, the menu choices live up to this. I recommend!

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
