We went to this restaurant recommended by our daughter. Everything we ordered was very good. The service was attentive and the place has and interesting atmosphere. When we got the check I think it was a little expensive for what we had for brunch.

The food and service here are both top notch. One of the cool features is decor. If you don't like taxidermy you may not like it. The ambience is cool and so is the location.

Atmosphere was very nice, as was the staff. However, we ordered the tomahawk ribeye medium rare, hoping for some proper NYC steak. What arrived was a chunk of charred meat (yes, it was black, burnt and scab-level crispy) that was completely uncooked in the center,...More

Hidden down an alleyway on the lower east side, is this great brunch spot. Highlight of the meal was the Hot Artichoke Dip, this is a rich and very tasty dish. Also had the skillet eggs from the brunch menu, which was fine.

Walking down the colorful graffiti alley to the delightful front entrance to Freemans, I felt like this restaurant was going to exceed my expectations. Staff was very accommodating in that we were late for our reservation and they still sat us right away. The space...More

Great in all categories food, service, ambiance. And, getting there feels like an adventure... reminds me of all those wonderful hidden streets in London and Paris.

Freemans makes food to order. While it's unlikely to have gluten-free bread, I think the cooks will try to accommodate dietary needs.

Located in Lower East Side of Manhattan Freemans offers a rugged and clandestine respite in a Colonial American Tavern setting. The cuisine is early American: simple, rustic and inspired by Old World traditions. Freemans is well known for beautiful artisanal cocktails and warm service.
