We had a pleasant brunch here. Service was not up to expectations from a fine dining experience. Flatware and plates should be changed between courses - they weren't. We had ordered 2 appetizers to share. They were served separately so we could enjoy each but not with clean flatware. Disappointing. The bread basket contained stale rolls which waiter removed but... The staff at Bar Americain does a great job. The entree selection seems a little limited and the prices seem a little high for the small portions. We would recommend trying this restaurant once.

All six members of of group tried something different. Let's face it, when you dine at a celebrity chef's restaurant, you have high expectations. Bobby Flay did not disappoint. While the steak special and rib eye were fantastic, the star was the pork chop. Unbelievable! What flavours!!! The atmosphere was great, service was impeccable, a definite highlight of our dining... You can usually get a reservation. The decor is modern and bright. Drinks are well prepared by mixologists behind a long, attractive bar. The food is consistently good.

Our meal here was fantastic! The restaurant was pretty laid back but the food was all class. The seafood trio was superb and the mussels and green chilli broth was a surprise favourite!

I love Bobby Flay and when we were looking for a restaurant to splurge on while in NYC, we just had to go to Bar Americain. We made a reservation for 6:45pm and it was pretty busy when we arrived. We were immediately seated. So hard to choose what to order as everything sounded so yummy! We got the Grilled... More

We've been here almost every time we visit NYC and we always leave feeling happy. The room is gorgeous, the service friendly and efficient, and the food always tasty. This time stopped in on a rainy day and had a fine lunch, sharing a top quality burger and a southwest chicken pot pie. Excellent!

We stopped by Bar Americain to get out of the rain, but were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful bar menu. The service was great and the drink selections were expansive. The Bellini was the perfect drink to sip!

Went there Saturday night and had our usual....ciopino and mussels, delicious. Finally tried the ribeye steak and filet mignon. Let me put it this way....i wish I had more room to keep eating. And definitely try the profiteroles with hazelnut ice cream and the the cream brûlée. The trio sampler appetizer was great too. If you're lucky to be in... More

Since we're big Food Network fans we had to visit at least one of the chefs restaurant. Bar American was a half block from hotel. We had reservations. We were seated promptly. The staff were efficient and friendly. We split everything. We had the deviled eggs which were very tasty, Caesar salad, fried chicken which we loved. It was fried,... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
