The very restaurant has a large menu and is big on flavor and taste and service. They have a tasty list of appetizers and are reasonably priced. The restaurant serves a range of Chinese dishes. You must try the ribs in bean sauce and the Shui mai. The ribs in bean sauce is delicious and the portion size is large... More

Come ready to eat! A grand Chinese menu in the West Village on 6th Avenue. It's often crowded weekend evenings, but there are lots of tables, Good for both singles and large groups. Soup bowls as a meal are huge. I opted, though, for the pork egg foo yung. Came with rice and sauce. I also ordered a small corn... More

After a whole day of walking and sightseeing New York this place was the right spot for dinner. I visited this restaurant 10 years ago and it didn't disappoint. The food was great, we had Pork dumplings, veggie noodle soup, beef fried rice and the best was the General Tso chicken. This place is not expensive and has good service,... More

I have been eating here since they opened - many years ago. I lived in the Village for 16 years and used to take my son here once a week from when he was a toddler. The staff is kid friendly. The noodles are insane. The dumplings are perfection. It sets the standard!

We get to Sammy's every trip if time allows. The restaurant is big and unassuming, so there is never a long wait to get a table. They bring out your food as it is cooked so it is very fresh and hot at your table. The egg rolls are huge as are the entrees. A table of four could easily... More

I ordered a wonton noodle dish for delivery for the first time last month (as I was staying near it and saw the super huge restaurant sign of Sammy's, which is a humongous place, each time I walked by there). The wonton noodles were thick and doughy (should be finer and not be twice as much as the ground pork... More

Sammy's is a Chinatown restaurant that happens to be in the West Village. I'm a native New Yorker and have been going there for decades. Sammy's is quieter and more spacious than many of the more popular restaurants on Mott Street, which is good becuase I'm not a big fan of crowds or noise. The primarily Cantonese and Mandarin menu... Many places in Chinatown, mostly downscale and frequented by locals, serve this type of food. But, if you'd like a little less noise, a bigger variety of menu, and not having to be a local to get through the menu, this is the place. Everything on the menu is quite tasty and with a large variety and decent prices, a... More

With scores of Chinese restaurants to choose from this one stands out for consistently good food and attentive service. It's conveniently located on 6th Ave between 10 and 11 street. Close to L line on 14 st. The large soup bowls are a good choice.

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
