My husband and I bought a Groupon and went to this restaurant for our first meal in New York. It was the BEST meal we had during the week. This is a little restaurant and is so amazing you won't even believe it. The dining room is small but the servings are big! My husband had clam chowder which was... More

I'm from Vancouver island Canada. I've been to New York City 5 times and every single time I make a point of it to Visit Umbertos (tbh I thought it was called something else 7 years ago). I love the host and he sings Frank Sinatra to me every time. Staple for me. The clam linguine is amazing.

Having walked Mulberry Street up and down twice to find the ideal place for dinner we finally came to the conclusion that the menus all looked much the same and we might as well pick Umberto's Clam House (not because of but despite the restaurant barker on the sidewalk). As it was a bit chilly we chose not to sit... More

This was the best Italian food ever! My husband is a food snob. He had spaghetti and meatballs and loved it! I had stuffed ravioli and left nothing on my plate. The owner was on the street bringing people in. Him and his staff were awesome!! I can't wait to go back next time in Little Italy!!

I took my family out to dinner to little Italy and have heard of Umberto's so we tried it; A man was outside by the Menu and didn't know if he worked there or not, so once we decided to stay, we ordered out food; surprisingly, the entree came with no soup or salad, and Waiter did not introduce himself or... My daughter and I visited Umberto's Clam House about a fortnight ago for Saturday lunch. We were shown to a table immediately and asked what we wanted to drink. The wine was brought quickly as was the menu. The order was taken straight away and that was virtually the end of the service. We asked several times where our meals... More

We had just finished visiting the new Freedom Tower and I know Little Italy is a short cab ride away and I was in the mood for Linguini so I said let's go to Umberto's. It use to be on the corner but is now in the spot where Sorrento use to be because of a rent issue. We where... More

We visited Umberto's to try out the Italian food which was very good. We all had a glass of wine that was great. Place small but friendly wait staff and would suggest going to this place in Little Italy.

All kinds of Travel guides and History channel documentaries point to Unberto's Clam House as the infamous place of a mafia murder in the 1970s. Thus, there are always gawkers to visit and eventually consume. I've watched this place move twice, every time further South on Mulberry St. in Little Italy, its kitchen moving from seafood Italian to tourist Italian... More

Come visit Umbertos Clam House, the legend of Mulberry Street in the heart of Little Italy! This historic restaurant has been serving happy locals, tourists and celebrities alike for over 40 years. We specialize in seafood and are the only ones in Little Italy to do so.

Many of our dishes have become famous since our opening in 1972. Our menu features our legendary Hot Red Clam Sauce which is simmered to perfection for hours just as it was the first day we opened. Be sure to enjoy our Baked Clams (best in the world), Linguine with White Clam Sauce, Veal Saltimbocca Alla Romana, Chicken Scarpariello and Calimari. We have also added many new exciting dishes such as Short Rib Ragu over Penne, Spiedini a la Romano and more.

Umbertos is a special treat for all who come. Our signature open kitchen and custom built wood bar are signature attractions. Our unpretentious flair and professional service combined with the freshest, most authentic product possible, all at reasonable prices, keep our customers satisfied and coming back for more.

Umbertos is proud to offer our new late night dining experience and serves an array of comfort foods such as eggs benedict, omelettes made to order, cheeseburgers and fries, BLTs, chicken cutlet sandwiches and more.

Staying in Little Italy

Neighbourhood Profile
Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors from around the globe, especially on summer weekends when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables, cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in for a coffee and a cannoli, or grab a streetside table to take in the scenery over a hearty Italian meal.
