We had a nice Saturday dinner in Chelsea and enjoyed ourselves. Current trends in high-end restaurants is to have small portions. With that in mind, we may have over-ordered. The entries were generously portioned. Best dish: Skate.

After a long walk on the Highline we found The Red Cat for dinner. It is a local style restaurant that is popular so if you go for a 6pm or later meal a reservation is recommended. Service was very good, food came hot to...More

My wife and I were in the neighborhood and stopped here for lunch. The food, service and the ambience are all fantastic. We started with their watermelon salad which had huge chunks of seasonal watermelon tossed with goat cheese, greens and spices, and was just...More

My wife and I went to Red Cat for her special birthday celebration. We had high hopes but were very underwhelmed. The food was uninspired and the dishes we ordered did not have good taste profiles. We also waited unattended for 1/2 hour to get...More

Popped in after a theatre visit just five minutes before the kitchen was due to shut and boy were we pleased we did. OK it was done on a whim which could have been a disaster but this was far from it. We shared a...More

Had lunch here and in walks Jimmy Carter. It set the scene! The menu is great but the food taste even better. The waiting staff is so very professional and knowledgeable. The deserts are just phenomenal

The Red Cat was a comfortable and pleasant choice for Saturday Brunch. My only complaints are that we wanted to order a sharing item for the table while we looked at the menu - we were hungry. We were told that we had to place...More

Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful
brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most
popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s
jewels when it comes to neighbourhood life. The
contemporary art scene is an integral part of the
neighbourhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost
every night of the week and countless exhibits to
explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York

This Old Chelsea food hall is a New York original. The Red Cat's combination of come-as-you-are sensibilities and straightforward, satisfying, and occasionally irreverent cuisine instantly establish the restaurant as a favorite with New York diners. As Frank Bruni wrote in the New York Times, "The Red Cat feels vaguely colonial and tavern like, except when it feels downtown-gallery cool, and apart from those moments when it feels modestly and eclectically elegant."
