the Hi Life restaurant on Second Ave (78-79th Streets) has been closed for several months and so is no longer in service. There is a companion Hi Life Restaurant on the West Side of Manhattan.

We had a group of seven for a Sunday brunch that we only planned on Saturday evening. We searched on OpenTable looking for a relatively highly rated restaurant on the Upper East Side that had moderate prices. There were not many openings for a group...More

Another UES institution that is more interested in revenue than customer service. Our waiter could not handle a simple two drink order, bringing red wine instead of white and the wrong beer. The sushi special advertised outside excludes the higher end choices and solicits cash...More

We go here all of the time. The UES of NYC doesn't have a ton of great dining options. We love their happy hour specials and the fact that they offer a wide array of food. Great sushi, great burgers, and everything else is pretty...More

Great food. Steak sandwich - medium rare with grilled onions and french fries crispy A+. Cheeseburger with fries. Food was over all very good. Staff friendly and pleasant. Place was a little on the dark side, but nice, kinda of kool decor.

Consistently good. My friend adores the eel sushi and I liked the broiled lobster. Thelatter was only 1 1/4 lb which doesn't give much food but it was tasty. Came away a liitle hungry. But great service and happy hour wine is always nice

A fake 50's bar with food that I find convincing. Bar food is pretty good and the cocktails are fine and they will let you sit in a booth for hours without bothering you. Also quiet enough to talk.

The food is simple but good and a lot of variety to please different tastes. It is a nice place for a conversation. However, on repeated occasions I have found the bathrooms to be very dirty.

Had lunch with a friend. It was a convenient location. The restaurant was a bit worn and could use some updating and the bathroom was in need of a serious update. I had a chopped salad. I remember enjoying it, but can't tell u much...More

My wife and I ate here after hearing some very bad news in our life and Stacy was a great server. We were just glad there were no problems and she was very nice> Thanks Stacy!

Description
Hi-Life Restaurant & Lounge is one of the Upper Eastside’s most popular and longstanding neighborhood restaurants (est. 1993). Hi-Life's 1930's decor is the backdrop for restaurant & lounge classics like flame-grilled steaks and hamburgers, broiled and seared fresh fish specials, bountiful "Big Bowls" of pasta and entree salads, and last but not least a Sushi/Raw bar. (Hi-Life was the first NYC restaurant to install a traditional sushi bar in a non-Japanese restaurant setting in 1993. Expertly prepared sushi & sashimi at Hi-Life is a natural extension of the classic Raw Bar one might expect in our 1930's environment.) Hi-Life also serves a "traditional Eastside brunch" that features fresh squeezed juices, complimentary blueberry muffins & cinnamon toast as well as a 2.95 brunch cocktail deal. In the warmer months Hi-Life opens all the French doors along Second Avenue to provide an inviting "cafe society" experience.
