Having visited Le Colonial in San Francisco which we thoroughly enjoyed we were looking forward to having dinner at Le Colonial on our trip to New York. The ambiance of the restaurant is attractive and quiet. The service was attentive. The food was just "ok". My dining partner had the tiger prawns and found them to be unappetizing. I had... More

This is not your typical Vietnamese restaurant. It is a fine dining establishment that serves Vietnamese food. Don't go expecting typical prices for Vietnamese food either -- it is expensive. But you will find good food in a very comfortable setting and excellent service. Living in the Washington area, we have the opportunity to sample many Vietnamese restaurants. This place... More

It had been too long since I was here, and for NYC's Restaurant Week AND my birthday, this was an easy selection. The Restaurant Week Prix Fe menu was excellent and great for an introduction to NYC's best Vietnamese food. I went off that menu and selected items from their regular menu. The staff was quick to seat me; I'd... More

Took my 21 year old daughter for her birthday. Top notch service. Prompt and unobtrusive. Appetizers of spring rolls, tofu salad and shrimp on sugar cane skewers were very good. Entree: salmon with curry was flavorful and spicy. Desert: layered matcha cake was over the top! Atmosphere of old world east/west blend of tropical and classic NYC. I would definitely... More

Both room and cuisine marked by austere simplicity, but food is excellent and exceptional service. Host is friendly and suggested that we return and try the large upstairs bar. We went for "restaurant week" -- spring rolls with shrimp, branzino and spicy chicken which were all quite good. For white wine we chose the gruner veltliner, and the deserts were... More

Excellent atmosphere and good customer service. My only gripe is that the pho soup, while very flavorful, is skimpy on the pieces of beef.

This is meant to be a Vietnamese restaurant but of late with the acquisition of new owners there has been a big turn over of chefs. The sad part is they have not maintained the cooking they were known for. The food actually taste like Chinese cooking now.

I had been to this restaurant in San Francisco many years ago and I was excited to try it again here in NY. Although the ambiance was lovely, the food seemed tired and uninspired. In fact, I thought it was more like Chinese food for old people. There was no spice to it and the dishes we had were overcooked... More

The interior is stunning and the location prestigious, but the service is slower than molasses - we waited for an hour just for appetizers. Moreover, if it's Vietnamese fare you want, there are so many better, more authentic and less expensive options all over town. It's a shame, because for the prices @ Le Colonial, it simply doesn't live up... More

Le Colonial is a truly delightful culinary experience. Like stepping into French Colonial Southeast Asia, this two-story restaurant, designed by Greg Jordan, consists of a main dining room with louvered wall panels, colorful tile floors, and vintage photos of Vietnam. Upstairs is an elegant, but lively, lounge serving a full dinner or just appetizers and cocktails. The lounge serves as an ideal setting for private parties and business dinners. Le Colonial serves an authentic Vietnamese menu with an emphasis on fresh seafood, meats, and vegetables.

Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
