If you want to go with a group of loud , big appetite people who like me to drink and have a crazy time come here. This place is a riot with old fashioned"Jewish food" like chopped liver made at the table with chicken fat and onions poured into the bowl, foxes Uber chocolate syrup on all tables for egg... More

`Entering Sammy's is like walking into a BarMitzvah in a basement,' says the website of Dani Luv, the entertainer who's worth going to the restaurant for, even if you don't eat. We started with Karnatzlack (and pickles, peppers, bread and chicken fat), followed by Romanian steak, lamb chops and sweetbreads, latkes with apple sauce and mashed potatoes with greeven and... Another awesome experience at Sammy's for my 50th birthday. As always, Dani is great entertainment. Serving staff is friendly, efficient and wonderful. The atmosphere is old-style, but kept that way on purpose. I couldn't imagine a trip to New York without Sammy's.

Let stepping into a time zone in a basement. Decor is schmaltzy as is the food. The vodka flows like water and you'll have a blast.

Lots of fun and Lots of food. You should go with a group. This is not your grandparent's Sammy's though the place hasn't changed much if any in decades. Was nice to see plenty of younger people having fun and clogging their arteries. We were there for the late seating on a Sat. night. Several birthday parties and plenty of... More

This is somewhere that was on my husbands bucket list and it didn't disappoint him. Authentic Jewish eating that took him back to his childhood. Great place to walk to after the tenement

Well you need to go into this an open mind. I personally love the place because of what it is and what it represents to the Lower East Side and the city at large. Sammy's is the last bastion of hope to save the "Borscht Belt" vibe and give those that never witnessed it an opportunity to do so one... More

People from certain countries or backgrounds probably won't get what makes this restaurant great. The food is quite pricey for what you get, served ungarnished by a rude waiter who treats like your his least favorite cousin, but if you grew up in an American Jewish or Eastern European home you will love it. Some things are just right, and... More

Great night out - it's like dinner theatre! Yes it's expensive but you're paying for the experience. Wonderful entertainer is a cross between a '60s lounge singer and Jackie Mason - he rocks the house. Big party place. World champion chopped liver. The guy comes to the table with a big mixing bowl filled with chopped liver, a pile of... More

This was my first experience of Jewish food. The entrance is Terrible look but in a way funny going downstairs. The restaurant is very old fashioned. In the menu They have nostalgic Jewish food like strange sassage, potato bread, cabbage roll. They mix lever and onion on your table and you eat with bread. A big amount of pickles are served...
