You don't go for the food, but get the Romanian Skirt steak and Stuffed cabbage. They might ask you how you want it cooked but it doesn't matter, it'll be cooked, more-or-less. You go for an experience you can't get anywhere else. The Vodka comes...More

Returned to Sammys with friends hoping to share our previous experience. We aren't big drinkers but we ordered 3 beers and a glass of vodka. Previously the chopped liver was mixed at the table. Seems they don't have time for it anymore but when we...More

This is not a quiet intimate evening out - but a memorable, noisy and fun one! The restaurant in a basement does not offer delicate morsels of fine cuisine - but great hunks of delicious tasty food from the heim (home) and in copious quantities....More

There was a large group of us of assorted ages so my friend thought that Sammy's would be the perfect night out. It's a crazy place, the food is heavy on the meat and carbs served family style, but certainly don't go there for the...More

I arrived at 7:30 to an 80% empty restaurant. I was told they couldn't seat me because they had a seating at 8:30....I assured him I could be out in hour! NOPE sorry..40% of their reviews are negative and so deserved.

We were in town from Chicago visiting our daughter. My husband had been to Sammy's over 20 years ago and really wanted to share the experience with our family. We had a table of eight with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, our two daughters, and New York...More

`Entering Sammy's is like walking into a BarMitzvah in a basement,' says the website of Dani Luv, the entertainer who's worth going to the restaurant for, even if you don't eat. We started with Karnatzlack (and pickles, peppers, bread and chicken fat), followed by Romanian...More

Another awesome experience at Sammy's for my 50th birthday. As always, Dani is great entertainment. Serving staff is friendly, efficient and wonderful. The atmosphere is old-style, but kept that way on purpose. I couldn't imagine a trip to New York without Sammy's.

I agree with the previous reviewer who said to allow a total of two hours (if you make it that long). Three hours is a possibility if it's a particularly good crowd or you just happen to be having fun.
