great service. good food. family style servings. do yourself a favor and bring your own wine, or spend a bit more to have a wine other than the "house wine" that was my biggest mistake. make a reservation or take a chance in waiting a while.. the experience is well worth it

This was by far the best meal of our weekend in NYC. Reservations are a must and should be made as early as possible to insure a reservation. Meals are served family style ..... salad and entree enough for 6 people. Chicken Parmesan with linguine was amazing.....fresh and authentic!

I don't like pasta. But 30 years ago my friend wanted to eat here so we went and I had the best Caesar salad I had ever eaten. I am not sure how it is possible but this place is still great 30 years later. Crazy busy huge platters of food. And yes the Caesar salad is still awesome. Couldn't... More

When I think of NYC I think of Carmine 's. I've been going there over 30 years. Delicious family style Italian meals, presented on platters and definitely for sharing. A favorite salad is Carmine's salad as far as meals I've loved everything I've tried. I think great prices for the amount and quality of food. You need reservations to guarantee seating,... More

We visited this restaurant back in November, 2015 during the NYC marathon weekend. I would say that even though it was packed, we were given a high table right away and the pasta we ordered was amazing. The ambiance was nice and if ever go back to NYC I would make sure to stop by again.

The pasta is awesome! Try the ragatele al ragu. It's enormous! Feed up to 2 people! Very cozy place, the waiters are very attended. Need to make reservation.

Description
Carmine's simple and very popular concept is to serve every meal in the style of an Italian American wedding feast - which means large portions of home-style antipasti, pastas, seafood and meat entrees served on large platters designed for sharing. And when we say large, we mean large. An entree here could easily feed three to four average eaters. Located in a sprawling, former grand ballroom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, this is the original Carmines. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the interiors evoke the images of the quintessential New York restaurant. With elements and details from the 1920s to the 1940s, the restaurant has the look and feel of a place that has been around for much longer than it's 1990 opening. If you are in the market for freshly prepared family style Italian food that is served in huge portions at reasonable prices, this is the place for you.
