This is one of the restaurant gems of lower Manhattan. Located near City Hall and the Freedom Tower, it's Italian dining at it's finest. From the cheese served when you arrive to the spicy sausage and eggplant served while you look at the menu and listen to the specials, the service is suburb. So is the food. We went with... More

We were walking back from the 9/11 Memorial and walked in with no reservation. The first thing that greets you are staff with strong Italian accents. They immediately bring out a free slab of cheese as they review the specials with you. They kindly repeated the specials when I had trouble understanding due to the strong accents. The pasta was... One of the top Italian restaurants I had the pleasure to enjoy. The food is true gourmet. The service is professional to the highest degree. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys high-end Italian. As expected, it is a bit pricey.

Dined here with my date. Excellent Italian food in a classy setting but very expensive. Only problem is its location, which is not a big deal. Chambers Street is not the most appealing street in Manhattan.

We were staying in NYC for just one night. We had no specific plans, but asked while we were getting a drink at a nearby bar for an Italian recommendation. After the bartender, and later the concierge at the hotel mentioned the same place, we decided to try. We had a party of 7, including a 3 year old. As... More

We wandered in without a reservation but were greeted promptly and seated at a comfortable table. Our waiter was a bit brusque but reasonably attentive. He recited a long list of specials but seemed startled when I asked the price of two that might be of interest. We shared a Caesar salad as a starter. Truly excellent as was the... More

Acappella Ristorante was one of our most enjoyable dining experiences in New York City. As lovers of Italian cuisine, this restaurant was one of our favorites. The dining experience was a throw back to our travels in Italy. The food was superb and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. I really enjoyed watching them prepare the pasta at the... More

My friend and I decided to dine there, as it's close to her working place and seemed to have good reviews. What a mistake. First the maitre approach us reciting the day's specials and shows no interest in explaining the dishes further. Then, when we order - and I explain about my allergy - my colleague decides she would only... More

Staying in TriBeCa

Neighbourhood Profile
TriBeCa
What’s in a name? In this case it is the unique title of “Triangle Below Canal Street” that became a popular nickname in the 1970s. An attractive neighbourhood filled with handsome lofts on the edge of the Financial District, this lovely slice of Manhattan offers plenty of fine dining experiences and art galleries. Plus, it’s home to the city’s most exciting film event, the Tribeca Film Festival, that takes place here every year. TriBeCa is a great place to take a leisurely stroll before stopping into one of the many local restaurants or bars for a satisfying meal and cocktail. You’ll see families out for an afternoon walk, and don’t be surprised to come up with the occasional celebrity sighting. With such a great vibe, many of the city’s most famous residents call this neighbourhood home.
