We happened upon Casimir as it was just down from the apt we were staying at. Wow - we were so glad we did. It was so awesome, from the bartender with his fantastic drink concoctions to the server and to the unbelievable food.

Have been here at least a dozen times . The restaurant closed down a few months ago for renovations and reopened as 'Pardon My French' . Highly recommend. Have been twice since the new chef came and the food is better than ever . Traditional French dishes e.g escargots, steak frites as well as tagine and great fish . The... More

Most guys working are French and the service was great. Foi gras, steak tartare, bone marrow were all good. The only negative would be that the tables were too close to each other and therefore too laud. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

This seems to have become my Friday night dinner spot. Casimir & Co has some great, friendly priced french food. The charcuterie plate is delicious as was the calf liver. The confit duck I ordered was a little over cooked (I think a couple bits may even have been burned) Overall though I like this place and it's great to... More

While there are two restaurants in town under the same name, it was the one at 1022A Lexington on the corner of 33rd that grabbed our fancy as we walked along trying to find a place to eat/recover after a fabulous night out in New York. Yummy food and the service from Jeremiah was first class, we left feeling like... More

Like most places in the neighborhood, Casimir has a good brunch special. You really can't beat $10 for brunch, including coffee. My french toast was delicious, served with fresh fruit and fresh whipped cream. My only complaint is that the syrup was fake. They really should upgrade to maple syrup. The service was good and the noise level manageable, but... More

The service was really bad and the food not good and french at all. The "crispy pork belly" was far from even crunchy, the appetizer was served after the main dish arrived and the dish wasn't great but hey "the chef is doing it like that for 12 years!" as per the waitress who doesn't even know how the dish... Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
