Good things come in small packages This restaurant fits this saying exactly . Small with urban vibe with amazing food. We went there for dinner and were completely impressed with every bring we ordered. The interesting use of spices and foods with a beautiful presentation. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The chef's new twist on Israeli dishes is worth... More

Located down in the East Village Bar Virage features very tasty Israeli cuisine. We were on our way to see "Stomp" at the nearby Orpheum Theater and just stumbled on the place. And we weren't really sure what constituted Israeli food. there weren't a lot of choices in the area other than pizza and Italian so we decided to give... More

very much enjoyed my meal here. We had brunch and I had ordered the omelet with mushrooms. Well presented with bread and muffins on the table and a large amount of mushrooms in the omelet. The coffee is very bold and delicious.

Came here for my mother's 60th birthday dinner. They truly took care of us! I was able to order dishes for the whole table over a steady period of time. Several members of the staff were attentive to our table. Whenever I couldn't find our assigned waitress, another of the waitstaff would come over immediately. For a minor plating fee,... More

Lots of choice on 2nd Avenue and we decided on Bar Virage for our evening meal. We were not disappointed. The welcome and service was very good and the food reasonably priced and very tasty. Overall a good experience and somewhere you could visit for a drink without food. Lots of ales and cocktails on offer with a decent wine... More

Very nice place to chat over dinner with a friend or have a cocktail and appetizer on your own at the lovely bar. The food and drinks are good, and we go from time to time. Very busy brunch at the sunny outdoor cafe section on weekends.

I was looking for a good place to brunch during my trip in New York and I came upon Virage. I looked up on their menu and went for it. I have to say that was very satisfied with the food! Also love the atmosphere and vibe. Very friendly waiter too!

After a full-house fun experience a block away at McSorley's Ale House, we were hungry. Though it was Friday night, it wasn't late, so Virage was able to accommodate our party of 2 right away. We enjoyed a wonderful Middle-Eastern appetizer plate and some quiet time before calling it a night. Our server was great; she even came out to... More

We didn't have a meal here, but the bar service was wonderful. There are a few beers on tap and a very extensive list of cocktails. The happy hour is from 3 - 7 Mon-Fri and includes a small plate appetizer with every drink purchase. The small plate appetisers are delicious, but truly small plates - not intended for sharing.... Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
