We found this beautiful little restaurant purely by chance. We walked in without any expectations! We were seated immediately without any reservations. Our server was so nice and sweet! We ordered the octupus, tuna tartar, arugula salad and beet salad! Everything was really tasty and just the right size! We will definitely return and is highly recommended

Excellent service, super good staff that treats you like family, fantastic food. Loved the vibe so very much. The place may seem a bit expensive, but it's definitely worth it.

Went here again for Christmas Eve. Took a friend and it was excellent as usual. I had the filet Mignon and it was great

Well, the place looks really inviting from the outside and the first impression inside is that of a buzzing place with a good vibe. As mentioned before, reservations are not really worth bothering with, you´ll have to wait at the bar until a table becomes available even if you do have a booking. The space is tiny and servers and... More

My wife and I have been coming here for years, and bringing family and friends. Across the street from the Sunshine cinema, and always a great lunch before a movie, or dinner after. A recent visit saw many familiar items on the menu, but at higher prices. A $190 -- tip included -- lunch for three (including the cheapest sparkling... More

We love everything about Lucien. The place is alive with interesting people and a dynamic ambience that takes you back to another time. We usually order the duck confit, or the lapin moutarde. Both are splendid dishes that you won't find anywhere else. Even the bread and butter here is divine. The wine list is terrific, too.

My favorite place every time I visit NY. Food is outrageously good and staff are very down to earth. Love this place!

Reservations don't really matter at this bistro. If not for the unbelievably good food I wouldn't have bothered with reviewing it. We've been to Lucien in the past and have always enjoyed it but lately their hostess is just awful. Go at your own risk.

We made reservations one month in advance at 9.00 Pm for a Saturday. When we arrived the place was packed and they told us we had to wait for 30 minutes. We told them we had reservations, they said: people here have been waiting for more than an hour. We had to stay inside to wait otherwise our reservation was... More

This lower east side French bistro is a taste treat as well as an immersion in the left bank. It is fine dinning and good wine with the staff well versed in both. This long term neighborhood restaurant is more expensive than most restaurants in the general area, but well worth they investment. It is small and intimate making the... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
