My husband and I talked about going to the Monkey Bar for years. We finally made reservations, and it was just wonderful. Inside the Hotel Elysee, the Monkey Bar itself has great, fun murals of monkeys all around the bar. Monkeys having a birthday party,...More

Just went to get a couple of small dishes prior to theater. Seated in the back away from the noisy bar. Crab cakes seemed made on premises and good; smoked spagetti was an unusual dish but very tasty. Prices are a bit high for the...More

Established in 1936, this simple yet special bar has some character. The dark ambiance, red heavy blinds, frescos, beautiful bar counter, evoke some 'old Americana' scenery. The best, the martini menu & light fare. A great place to hangout for a drink after some business...More

How do customers dress? Looking at the pictures it appears that men were dressed in jackets and ties and women worn dresses. Can you dress casual? Are sneakers acceptable? Thanks

Show some cuff and dress up. You don't wear sneakers in a place like this.

Description
Established in 1936, Monkey Bar was returned to its former glory in 2009 by Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter.

The dining room's lush red leather banquettes and dim, attractive lighting have restored the fizzy thrill of dining in a restaurant - both attractive and cozy - and harken back to a bygone era when a gentleman never left the house without a tie and a lady always had a pair of white gloves in her purse.

Monkey Bar's menu boasts American classics alongside seasonal dishes using sustainable and organic products whenever possible.
