We were holding a corporate event at the Waldorf Astoria before it closed and decided to book Il Postino since it was in walking distance (and also on Open Table). Amazingly enough, the date was February 14 (Valentine's Day) even though this was a business dinner. The staff here was incredibly helpful, attentive and accommodating. They changed up their "dinner... More

Had the pleasure of dining here with some business associates recently. Having never heard of it, I was curious. This is now what I would consider a hidden gem in midtown east. As you arrive, you encounter an unassuming but interesting facade, and you walk into a slightly cramped entryway. Soon, however, you are shown to your table, and the... More

Quality of food is good but the service was really the worst. When checking out I claimed to delete the one of the appetisers (mozzalera) from the bill as it was not served. The waiter pushed us several times that the mozzalera was served as if we are telling a lie. After checking other waiters, he lastly pushed us very... More

We had a large group so I will not spend time commenting on the service. Overall a nice experience. The food was average and the staff was very capable. Would not recommend for a large group as can be crowded.

The food is good, not heavy and oily. I had spinach and cheese raviole in a truffle sauce and I was deliberately eating slowly so it would last longer. Just thinking about it makes my mouth salivate. They will make anything you want if it's not on the menu, but why wouldn't you try what's on the menu. You're going... More

We were just arriving to NYC, staaarving. We went staright to the concierge at The Benjamin, we said we were in the mood for Italian, but nothing too fancy, we had just arrived from the airport and wanted to go straight to have dinner. Il Postino was her first recommendation, I think we didn't even let her tell the second... More

had a lovely lunch at Il Postino last week. While the restaurant was participating in Restaurant Week, they also mentioned on the menu that they always have a lunch meal for $30. The burrata choice was excellent, and the ricotta filled ravioli with lamb ragu was outstanding. Very nice wine list, and they served us a comp shot of home... More

Just finished a reunion diner using the restaurant week menu.We had wonderful seats and good service. I ordered the grilled calamari and it really had no taste. Two of my friends had the buffalo cheese and they enjoyed it and one had the quinoa salad and that was also fine. In terms of the main course, there were 4 choices... More

So pleased our Concierge suggested Il Postino for a night out. We were able to take a leisurely stroll from our Hotel in Park Lane which was a bonus. Our meals were one of the best Italian we have had, especially the tortellini and calamari. Warm friendly greeting, helpful suggestions for wine and food. Complimentary starters and delicious biscotti with... More

Have to agree with Gregghamer comments of overpriced. That said, meal (ravioli) fabulous, service the same, vibe very enjoyable, doors opened this particular evening making it feel open air. I'll go back for sure even though the check stings some upon arrival.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
