My friends and I are so grateful for the recommendation from a Manhattan native to eat dinner here, during a recent business trip. Their attentive service, absolutely determined to please, set the tone for our evening! We were received warmly and then helped with our order, to satisfy three individual palates! Two of us asked for drinks, a very festive sangria and a delicious rosé wine. We started with pita and hummus and then moved on to Salade de Calamar à la Marocaine (with grilled calamars, not fried, and so a thumbs up!), Brochette de Merguez (very delicious and flavorful), Tagine de Poulet (bursting with aromas of special spices)! Everyone loved what they orderdered. We were too full to order dessert, and so ordered a Crème Brulée and shared it to complete the and sweeten the mouth! Yes,↓we would go back!

Truly a special spot, Barbes will delight even a finicky eater. My husband had the vegetarian couscous and I had salmon that was prepared to perfection. I had a side of artichoke that was delightful and our waiter suggested that we try some red Moroccan...More

Close to the Morgan Museum, this place is small but good. Service is very attentive, and food excellent. We had the prix fixe and couldn't finish the large servings they gave us. Salmon and tangine chicken were excellent.

We enjoyed our first meal at Barbes, a lovely little Moroccan restaurant right off Fifth Ave. We took advantage of their $37 prix fix menu, a real deal which includes an appetizer, entree and dessert. We started by sharing appetizers of hummus, a green salad...More

Customers treated as "neighbors" with attentive and good service. Dishes appear to be authentic Moroccan preparations, with some changes for Americans, e.g. chicken substituted for pigeon in Briquats. Other more traditional dishes, couscous and tagine prepared and excellent.

Love this place. Charming atmosphere, friendly service, outstanding food. Across the street from the Morgan library. I've had the incredible pastilla, lamb tagine, chicken cous cous. Great cocktails and wine list too.
