I think CaptainCook nailed it. It was out of our way but we went because Keens is a NY icon and we had never been. Great (and large) wedge salad and kudos to the waiter for suggesting we share it. I'm not afraid of an expensive steakhouse, but I just didn't think anything was that delicious or wonderful to warrant... More

The best steaks ever, you could, and we did to prove it, cut them with a spoon. The atmosphere was great, wait staff excellent and the puddings followed suit. When we go back to New York we will go back for another try.

Keen's had been on my must-try list for a long time. The restaurant is part of every single "best NYC steakhouses" list, and has a rich history. Pros: old-school ambiance, large portions, top-notch and fresh ingredients (porterhouse for 2 was extremely high-quality beef; crab and avocado salad appetizer was very fresh), classic and tasty desserts Cons: The porterhouse for 2... Immediately our waiter made us feel like family. This is a high end establishment but it is not snooty at all. He was so fun and energetic and hilarious. Made us feel like we had always been friends. I saw keens first on the tv show billions and I had to try it. Well they say to get the mutton.... More

Outstanding service and very welcoming restaurant. The steak was very tasty and well prepared. Ideal setting either before or after a Knicks or Rangers game.

Maybe the best steak I've ever had. My wife checked this restaurant out on line, ( it was our 1st trip to New York), and boy we were not disappointed. The service is excellent, and the food is over the top good. 2 recommendations....1 don't order your entree at the same time as your appetizer or salad, like this restaurant,... More

Perhaps you can't eat atmosphere, as an old TV ad used to say. But you can certainly enjoy it, and this 132 yr-old restaurant, the second oldest steak joint in NYC, is rich in old-world charm. Our steaks and lamb chops were cooked close to perfection, and the service was excellent. I ate here for the first time almost 50... More

The BEST !!! Attention to detail is just the only way to say it. They do t miss a thing, at all. We had an amazing oyster appetizer , filet and mutton. EVERYTHING superb, the only bad thing, I don't know when I'll get to go again. ;)

We booked keens in advance of our travel to NY. We ordered chateaubriand and it was absolutely cooked to perfection. We had great seats, the ambience was spot on and the service fabulous. If you love steak, you have to visit Keens.

Keens Steakhouse, a classic New York chophouse, was already famous for its steaks and chops at the turn of the century. Founded in 1885, Keens has 90,000 clay pipes that line the ceilings – pipes once smoked by customers after dinner. Today Keens legendary mutton chops and dry aged prime steaks are still without equal in the city.

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
