We visited here on a recent trip to New York. We chose the restaurant due to its already incredible reviews. It did not disappoint. A charming place with the most delicious food. James the owner made us feel right at home, giving us some tips...More

We got the stuffed shells, manicotti, and meatballs. Everything was homemade and very fresh. The tomato basil sauce tastes perfect. The portions were also big. Definitely able to share with others.

Frankly I was unsure, little Italy is too touristy for me and past experience tells me to avoid eating in such areas. But this place was busy and much Italian was being spoken so in we went.. Good service, very good value nicely cooked food....More

Calamari Marinara was very fresh and tasty and service was awesome. Not to mention very reasonably priced! Definitely going back.

We had no reservations, but somehow the “boss” found a way to squeeze us in the corner. It was worth it! The antipasto plate was good and the veal parmigiana was unbelievable!! Probably the best I have ever had. The waiter was also very good!!

3 of us ate here at lunchtime, without reservations, and loved it. The food was good -spaghetti al pomodoro to die for - the house chianti was good and you could not fault the service. Great location, so highly recommended!

Little Italy
While Little Italy is one of the city's smallest
neighbourhoods, its streets are packed with visitors
from around the globe, especially on summer weekends
when the streets are closed to traffic. Stroll up
Mulberry Street, the heart of Little Italy, for a
dense mix of Italian restaurants with sidewalk tables,
cafes, and old-school food shops. Don’t be surprised
when the hosts beckon you to pay them a visit. Stop in

I'm so sorry, there must be some mistake, I did not reply to your answer. I actually am very confused. I wrote a review on Benito and it was very positive but I never responded to anyone's comment or review. Unless I did so... More

The Original Benito One opened it's doors in 1968. Because of the reputation of Chef Benito it became an instant hit in Little Italy. It started out with only 5 tables in a tiny store front. It hasen't changed much over the years. The new owners are 2 brothers (Nick and James Bari) who have been in the restaurant business for over 40 years. Born and raised on Mulberry Street and now the proud owners of Benito. Out of respect of Chef Benito they kept the name and pretty much the same menu. The chef that is there has been working in Benito for over 29 years. Nick and James have kept the same cozy and family oriented look of the restaurant. All the pictures on the walls are of thier family, parents, grand parents and great grand parents. They will maintain the look and taste of the original Benito as long as they are there. Nick and James invite you to come and take a look and hopefully become a member of the Benito family.
