We had an amazing dinner with friends to celebrate my husbands 60th! We will definitely go back. The food was Italian pizzas ,pastas, and meat dishes. Amazing pasta with vongole made fresh.

My wife and I found this place through a friend's facebook post so thought we'd give it a try. Really nice atmosphere and very Italian waiter always helps. We tried a pizza (fabulous) and a very creative (and rich and delicious) appetizer with chicken livers, mushrooms, polenta, and prosciutto. We also shared the signature dish of roasted suckling pig. This... More

With so many amazing restaurants in NYC to choose from, its hard to not compare. I had read great things and was excited to try it, but ended up feeling underwhelmed I think. The space is pretty, but its large, so its not cozy/romatic/italian, it's more of a place to go with girlfriends or take your parents to. The food... More

Cozy, family style dining tables in warm underground location...heavy with atmosphere. Beautiful space, service and food..nice selection of affordable wines and digestivos. Ridiculously good rabbit lasagne.

Arrived at 6pm on Saturday night and found the place deserted. We were the first to be seated and indeed we were completely alone in the restaurant for 15 minutes. By 6:30 a couple of tables were occupied. By 7:00 it was filling up. So I advise a reservation around 7pm, not 6pm. It just happened that earlier worked in... More

Loved our recent dinner at Peasant. We waited in the bar area for the rest of our party where we had great drinks and snacks they left on the small bar tables. We were seated near the partially open kitchen which was a treat. The service was prompt and our server knew what he was doing. We shared a few... More

Was recommended to visit the restaurant by a friend. Ordinarily would not have travelled down this way but will certainly do so again. Minimalist decor with cool, knowledgable and helpful, staff helps set the scene. A relatively short menu but full of appealing food topped off by a list of specials. The Polpo Infferni was great as was the citrus salad... More

I am a huge peasant fan and I have reviewed them twice but something went terribly wrong on Friday. I was solo and I wanted red meat. The bartender/waiter suggested the only dish which was a t-bone. I ordered wine and before I could finish my first glass of wine the steak arrived....right then and there i knew something was... More

I had such a great expletive at the restaurant from the friendly front of house to the service that I would say was impeccable. This place has a casual atmosphere and a very relaxed feel. I would definitely recommend ordering the sardines, octopus or the clams as a starter. Their popular suckling pigs is worth a recommendation, along with their... More

Kind of hard to find, but through an anonymous door, you will find a trendy and busy restaurant, and in the back of the restaurant you could spot the woodstove. This gives the restaurant a somewhat rustic look in all its "trendyness". The food was ok, but not as rustic as I had hoped. Well worth a visit!

Staying in Nolita

Neighbourhood Profile
Nolita
Despite being just off of busy Houston Street, Nolita maintains a low-key vibe that makes it a pleasant retreat in the heart of lower Manhattan. Short for “North of Little Italy,” Nolita was once considered to be part of Little Italy. Today, the neighbourhood is popular with young fashionistas popping in and out of the chic independent boutiques that line Mulberry, Mott and Elizabeth Streets. In addition to shopping, there are cozy restaurants and sidewalk cafes serving everything from new-school Italian food to the world-famous cronuts. While small in size (Nolita stretches just a few blocks in each direction), it’s a great neighbourhood to spend an afternoon people watching, window-shopping, and grabbing a bite to eat.
