The shrimp and mushrooms appetizer was very good. The veal scallopini was tough and chewy. This is NYC. There is too much choice to pay a lot of money for bad food. Maybe others have different experience but you have to be able to afford hit and miss.

Visited during my last New York City stay on a Friday night. To say the food is divine is an understatement. The owner recommended the meatballs, for which they are famous, and they were out of this world. In fact we ordered them as an appetizer and ended up getting a second order with our meal. The main course was... More

This restaurant is a brief walk from Central Park and somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of New York City. It was a pleasant walk down a residential street to this quaint restaurant. We were seated in the "garden area" which is behind the main dining room. It's enclosed on all sides with painted walls and grape vines above... More

We ate here once or twice before and I do not know why we did not return more often - possibly because it is about a half a mile walk from where we live. But we had a wonderful meal there last night and will surely return, with frequency. The name means "Beautiful Garden" and last night was great night... More

Food was outstanding; service superb; great value. We ate in the patio in fine weather. Noise level was moderate. We were 8 and ate a variety of dishes, including the soft shell crab special; others ate pasta.

I've been here 3 times in the last month or so. Food is very good, service very good and the prices are reasonable. Only thing to be aware of it is CASH only. I suppose this helps to keep the prices reasonable. Nick the owner is always there with a smile. Having grown up in the restaurant business i know... More

i am giving up finding italian-american food made by italian-americans, no less finding italian food made by italians in manhattan. seems all the last generation of italian-americans had restaurants and pizzerias so the kids could become doctors and lawyers. now, the kids are doctors and lawyers and people of italian heritage like me are forced to only eat at home.... We just stopped in for a quick meal on the day we landed. The food was nice and the service friendly. Not a massive selection of wines, and the price was a little high for the quality, but an enjoyable evening. They only take cash.

Excellent food and service but CASH ONLY!!! We did not know this until we sat down and read the menu but of course they have an ATM in the back (very dark) area of the restaurant. The tortellini della Nona was delicious. I love creme brulee but tonight the carmelization was way overdone.
