I love this place because I can get 3 rolls a salad and a soup for 13 $ anytime before 4pm everyday. That being said the sushi is good but I wouldn't want to eat there I usually take it to go.

It's a closest Jappeness restaurant i can go. Every time I wish it's better than last time. Unfortunately It's always the same. Don't want to leave a bad command. Wish you have a better please to go.

I've only order the lunch special delivery (multiple times). It's a decent special: 2 rolls w/ soup and salad for $10 or 3 rolls w/ soup and salad for $12. It's not lightning speed delivery but it's usually accurate. Only a couple of times they totally forgot soy sauce or ginger. The salmon is okay and typically good cuts but... More

I found out about the place from an interview given by Sarah Jessica Parker about NY and i was not disappointed. First, I was a little bit worried as the place doesn't look quite spectacular, but it didn't matter: the fish was fresh and the Philadelphia rolls are a delight! Also, reasonable prices!

Not so good location, small place and few tables but good staff and normal plates. Sushi was fresh but the ricd is not so compact as expected by a japanese restaurant. I think that's better in neighborhood.

Kawa Sushi is a tiny restaurant at 24 8th Avenue, just south of Jane Street in the West Village of New York City. Excellent sushi, unusual Japanese specialties like cold soba noodles with an unusual not-peanutty sauce, extraordinary deeply complex green tea, kindly staff, fun residential neighborhood, nearby Magnolia Bakery with its flower-topped cupcakes to die for, and boutiques all... Looking for a snack for lunch with a friend. Didn't know what to get and saw this place, so made a snap decision. Prices seemed a little high compared to what I am used to, but I keep forgetting that its Manhattan. We chose a Maki selection and a Sashimi selection. The chef prepared them fresh, right there and then,... More

Service was friendly and it was inexpensive, but not especially fresh or memorable.

It might be a bit pricier than other sushi places, but so worth it. Everything is very fresh and the tastes are all distinct. Excellent neighborhood choice!

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
