they don't take reservations but you can go in person and out your name down on a busy day. The food here is good. It can get very loud here so if you want to have a quiet intimate evening this is not the place. It has a bar and loud music. Its fun to go out with a group... More

Communal tables and prepared to order asian and fusion food reign supreme here. Although innovative when it first opened years ago, today - not so much, especially with nearby competition from London's Wagamama and other wannabe's. Try it to see if you like it, but know there are alternatives.

I love this place, I used to live in NYC, and would come here often. The path Thai is delicious, and the atmosphere is great to go with friends or with a date.

I have been to republic a couple times, it had a nice industrial but inviting modern and sleek feeling to it, i recommend the glass noodles spring rolls, and pad thai all exceeding my exceptions, very nice bathrooms, clean and if you sit at the bar area near the front of the restaurant there is a good view of the... This place is great for lunch or dinner. They have great lunch specials. One that includes the Chopped Asian Salad, grilled eggplant and the best fried tofu you will ever eat - even if you hate tofu. Try it. You'll like it.

If you were not a local you would probably walk by this place. Sure glad we went in. The prices are reasonable and the food was excellent. The staff was attentive. It was a bit loud but otherwise it was a great place to have a great meal for not too much money.

Fun noodle bar on Union Square. Feels a bit upscale with modern design. Table or bar, service is fine and fast at both. The menu is fun and extensive. I had dumpling soup, fried tofu and delicious glass noodles with lemongrass. Food was delicious. Fast but relaxing. Great spot for a big bowl of noodles! Slurp!

Staying in Flatiron District

Neighbourhood Profile
Flatiron District
Offering many of city’s best restaurants and shops set amid classic New York architecture, the Flatiron District is no longer under the tourist radar. At 23rd Street is the famous triangular Flatiron Building, which makes a good picture no matter what angle you photograph it from. Be sure to look up at the elegant architecture as you stroll the streets- much of this neighborhood is part of a historic district that was home to many of the city’s most famous department stores at the turn of the century. At the northern end of the neighbourhood, Madison Square Park is best known for being the home of a famous burger shack, but it can also be a quiet refuge to spend an afternoon, and it frequently hosts interesting public art exhibits. In the lower part of the Flatiron District you'll find Union Square, a bustling crossroads at all times of day and night.
