We came here with friends for lunch - though the Internet said they opened at 12 they actually didn't open until 12:30 - but it was well worth the wait. We enjoyed the appetizers that we were brought - meatballs - sausage - mussels with finely chopped cucumbers tomatoes red onions - absolutely fresh and delicious. My husbands the gazpacho... More

I was in the area, looking for a place to eat and it was there. I didn't think it was something that I would love by looking from outside. Once I got in, I knew it would be great. People are nice and food was great. The signature dish, paella valenciana was fantastic!

After so many years of eating at this amazing restaurant, the food has been exactly the same since I was a child, simply delicious. Same waiters, same decor, CASH only, "it may seem a hole in the wall" but excellent in so many ways. Fast service, tapas to die for, so much food before you order, cozy and excellent Spaniard... I read the Sept 18, 2016 New York Times review of Spain, the restaurant, and was enticed by its "quaintness". So I dropped in last night. I was not amused by the surly bartender, even if he is 81 years old. He doesn't interact with the bar patrons. Doesn't smile. Snickered when I asked for the tapas after my first... More

Really good food and plenty of it. Not to mention all the freebie tapas that arrive as soon as you sit down. The place is decidedly in need of a makeover but we don't care. Go and enjoy. Note the updated uniforms for the waiters: polo shirts! Can you believe it!

Excellent food. Wonderful service. The paella Valenciana was delicious. We had an emergency our friend fainted and immediately they call for an ambulance and were very caring .and professional. I would Recommend this place .price was also right.

This is the last of the Spanish restaurants that once dotted West 14th street. Maybe it survived because its on 13th street. I went there with my parents many years ago. Then as a parent, now as a grandparent. The meal begins with an assortment of tapas, a simple salad, and bread and butter. There isn't one entree I would... More

I grew up patronizing Spain as a young child with my parents. Since moving from NY, I had only been back to Spain a few times. This is a neighborhood gem. Food is great. Paella is affordable. Service is warm.

I love to find hole in the wall places that are off the beaten track. Spain has been around for some time and maybe the quality has gone down. I found this place dirty and in complete need of a renovation, the food was cold and overcooked. I will not be having a repeat visit to this establishment. Much better... More

The food was delicious and plentiful. The servers are grumpy but fun and service is quick. They do bring you little plates of meatballs and fried potatoes. It's kind of like a little piece of Spain.

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
