I work in Manhattan, so my wife took the train in from the island to meet me for an early dinner. She had eaten here once before with a friend and said it wasn't bad. So I said fine. We were brought 4 slices of bread that looked like they were in some type of bed pan. No basket, dinner... More

This Italian restaurant is wonderful: the food, from antipasti and salads over scallops, Pappardelle Lobster (highly recommended) and Surf and Turf to the cheesecake and the chocolate pot & creme brulee (highly recommended), is delicious. The wine selection is excellent and not overpriced. The service is impeccable. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. It does get very full but still... More

A reality tasty dinner with great service. A nice wine list, excellent appetizers, great pastas and a varied dessert menu. All in a cozy atmosphere. Definitely worth a try.

We had a lovely dinner party for my best friend at Crispo almost 2 weeks ago. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and our coats were checked by the door. We were then taken to our table which was in the garden area which I highly recommend being seated. We had a pre-set menu which offered 4 different appetizers... More

Amazing meal from A to Z. Reasonably priced for fine dining in NYC. Plan ahead to reserve cozy circular booth for ultimate family and friends dining experience in NYC. Save room for dessert: Italian cheesecake and zepoles.

Let's start with the garlic toast. EVERYONE should try this item! It's HEAVENLY. Crispy, garlic-y, full of flavor, it arrives standing up! Sliced, but not all the way through, you have to tear it apart (AFTER they grate some cheese over the top of the entire portion) to get to the goodness of it, but it is worth it! I... More

On a trip to NYC my son 'googled' 'best carbonara restaurants' which was how we got to Crispo. By far this was the best dish we had and worth the visit. It was not Alfredo ( which most restaurants do in the south), nor greasy/ oily ( which many up north are) but allowed flavor to come through but not... More

Great Italian food I've eaten in a long long time. Excellent menu, service and wine list. We were there Christmas Eve. Do get appetizers. The main portions are big and can be shared.

I'm a Manhattan resident and have been going to Crispo since he opened 15 years ago. One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the city, with great food and reasonable prices for food and wine. The spaghetti carbonara is the best I have ever had, either here or in Italy! Nice open ceiling garden dining room in the back in... More

Description
Chef and owner Frank Crispo opened Crispo Restaurant in the heart of Chelsea and the West Village in the summer of 2002. Our 150 seats create a lively, warm and friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy our signature Northern Italian cuisine. We were nominated in 2002 for "Best New Restaurant" by Time Out magazine, and received an award for "Best Spaghetti Carbonara" by New York Magazine in 2004. Food is not our only passion. Our extensive wine list covers the major regions of Italy and several other countries beyond. For enthusiasts, we have a full bar stocked with grappa, amaros, aperitifs and digestifs. Come join us for dinner in our main dining room, or in our outdoor garden space. It remains open year long. With this newest addition to Crispo Restaurant you will truly feel like you are not in New York.

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
