One of the best meals I've had in Manhattan. The focus is on small plates and tapas. Kinda of a Mediterranean-Spanish hybrid but more interesting and eclectic than regular Spanish tapas. We started with the bacon wrapped dates and olives. Very tasty. The wrapped olives were good but the wrapped dates were even better. The fried goat cheese balls in... More

One of my favorite restaurants in NYC, not because it is a Michelin Star, but because it is unique and hidden in a random street in NYC. It's ambiance is mystic and seductive. They have small sharing dishes, but there are so many delicious options to chose from, you may want hang onto the menu for a little longer! The... More

The atmosphere is very appealing - the townhouse setting is very quaint. The food was good but the service was not. The server disappeared for long gaps and seemed fairly disinterested in being there. Could be much better with a different service experience

What appears to be a tiny, basement bar/restaurant under a townhouse in the Village is actually a 3 story home to some of the best small-plate dining in the city. We went at 6:30 pm, so it was pretty empty and quiet. I imagine it could be a little loud if it filled up more. But the atmosphere is very... More

Having dinner at Alta on a Thursday night was a lot of fun. The atmosphere is lively but not too loud, the menu is diverse and interesting, and everything we ate was excellent. Service was friendly but efficient.

We went to Alta on a recommendation and were not disappointed. As you walk past the bar to the seating area you get the sense that this place is somehow older than it should be with exposed beams, diverse staff and a superb tapas (mostly sharing plates) menu for all tastes. The wine choices are also good and range from... More

Alta is a pretty nice tapas place. The atmosphere and decor will not fail to impress. I wanted to try the whole shebang option, but I don't think we had the numbers for that. Either way, we selected pretty good dishes. Was definitely a fan of the paella, roasted pork belly, and salmon tartare. The other items were not bad... More

We went to Alta last night with a group of friends and we had a fabulous experience. The drinks are great, the food is awesome and the service is exceptional. Cal is the one who looked after us and in spite of this being a Saturday night, he ensured that our food showed up on time and drinks were flowing.... More

Started off in the bar for happy hour. Good value with two small plates for $8 (had the fried goats cheese and bacon wrapped dates & olives) and selection of wines for $8 a glass. We had dinner in the top level with excellent service from Jeremy. As one of hour party was vegan we mainly had vegetarian options. We... More
