Amla has pretty good food, but it is nothing special. They are usually empty, so the food comes fast. The chicken tikka masala with their superb basmati rice is the best dish there. The Tandoori prawns are also good if you can handle a little spice.

My husband and I love Indian food and found Amla on Trip Advisor during a weekend visit to NYC. It exceeded our expecations! We had their Chicken 65 appetizer. It was spicy and wonderful. Then we split an order of garlic naan and Chicken Zafrani. We'd never had the latter and absolutely loved it. The service was wonderful and the... More

Amla consistently serves delicious, fresh, interestingly spiced food with attentive, helpful wait staff. The decor is very pleasant and we always enjoy ourselves for the total dining experience. We don't live or work in the neighborhood but it is worth the trip. The food is reasonably priced and their portions are so generous we always get a second meal out... More

Amla opened with a sense of purpose and mission: to serve carefully prepared authentic food that was healthy and reasonably priced. We live in the neighborhood, and visit regularly, often bringing friends with us. The restaurant has never failed to please us or our most discriminating fellow diners. There are many unusual dishes, while the standards are of the highest... More

My partner and I came in on a slow late afternoon. We ordered chicken tikka masala, and a lamb curry dish with garlic naan. The chicken tikka masala was the best I had ever had!! With plenty of super garlicky naan to mop up the sauce. So good. You should go.

Great menu with some dishes that I had not heard of before. Attentive service. Waiter was helpful in explaining some of the dishes to help with our order. The food was delicious. Very reasonable prices and nice atmosphere. It would be nice if they had some outside tables as most of the restaurants in the neighborhood do (but, the AC... More

We want into Amla following other reviews on TripAdvisor as we were looking for a Indian restaurant nearby the place we were wandering at. The restaurant was completely empty when we got there which was not a good sign on a busy Saturday afternoon. However, it was already almost full when we left. The starters were no more than OK... The food was excellent and the service was very efficient. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the wait staff wad nit very friendly. Otherwise, I would highly recommend if you like Indian food at reasonable prices

We have been to Amla several times and the place has become our favorite Indian restaurant on the upper west side. We have tried many items from their menu and were never disappointed - Everything is delicious, well-spiced and not too salty (a frequent problem with many Indian restaurants) and the quality is consistently high. Friendly service. We have tried... More
