The long line will tell you you have found a great spot. We particularly appreciate the non-dairy options...several NYC locations.

Came here in August in the middle of summer heat; their ice-cream was top-notch and one of the best ones we've had in NY; the flavours we tried were pistachio and earl grey tea, both superb with a real creamy taste that is hard to find nowadays. Truly recommend!

They have regular as well as vegan ice cream. My favorite was the peanut butter marsh mellow. There isn't any where to sit inside so take it to go.

Hand-crafted, decadent ice cream awaits you here. Their classic (fresh milk and cream, cane sugar and egg yolks) and vegan scoops (cashew milk, organic coconut milk, organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic cane sugar, pure cocoa butter and organic carob bean) is the way ice cream use to taste. In addition to serving a full menu of ice cream, sundaes... More

This is our son’s favorite place to have the vegan ice cream. Usually we go there around 10 pm and the place is packed. The service is very friendly but slow. Usually, we see only one person working late hours. And if we lucky, then another one will come to help. During several visits, I tasted almost all vegan flavors,... More

The servers are really wonderful. Do try the pistachio ice cream and sit down to enjoy it and the environment.

The place looks pretty nice inside and has a good selection of home-made-styled options. There are vegan ice creams, as well as sorbets made with healthier options such as coconut oils.... The price is a little high, but the quality is very good. The usual drink options are available... Tea, coffee, hot chocolate.... Etc. One pretty cool thing is the... More

Went here with my wife for dessert after dinner. There were about 15 people waiting in line. Big gay ice cream around the corner had a line around the block. This place was good and clearly of high quality. We like super creamy ice cream and this was close but not quite there. Certainly better than Baskin Robbins...if you are... More

We were in the neighbourhood and around 11pm we saw a huge line forming up for this establishment so we think to ourselves, "this must be good!!".. Well, it wasn't great!! It was just good ice cream. We ordered strawberry and vegan chocolate with peanut butter. The place is nice, very 'pinteresty' so nothing to complain on that but the... More

In all honesty I'm still trying to work out whether I got Van Leeuwen ice cream or if it was a mouth-watering dream. Assuming I really went, I got the banana pancake flavour and my partner got the salted caramel. They were both superb. I still think about it..... a lot.

Thank Ingrid W

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
