It is indeed that good. I grabbed a bowl of the lobster bisque and enjoyed it right there on the street. The first thing I noticed was the amount of actual lobster, no cheap imitations in this one, in the bowl. The soup also comes with a nice piece of french bread and piece of fruit. Another nice treat in... More

Knowing that the Original Soup Man was just across from our hotel, it was to be the first stop we made after checking in. It is just a window you order at, with only one person in front of us in line. My husband and I both got the Lobster Bisque and it did not disappoint! We have both had... More

Rightfully famous, but excellence depends on what you pick from the list of six or eight available that day. All are at least very good. Clam chowder: excellent. Chicken with corn: lots of chunky chicken--excellent. Jambalaya: excellent. Chicken and rice: only very good. Surprise bonuses come with the soup, but no seating; all take-away. Lobster roll heavily advertised but not... More

We stumbled upon The Original Soup Man while in NYC, and later research revealed the location we stumbled on to be the location of the actual original shop made famous in the Seinfeld Episode. The owner, Ali Yeganeh, apparently has a difficult relationship with his fame from Seinfeld, not enjoying the way he was portrayed but (being a good businessman)... More

I wanted to see if the soup was as good as they implied in the famous Seinfeld show from many years ago. I couldn't agree more. Soup was great. A bit pricey perhaps but it was worth. A slice of bread, a banana and a Lindy chocolate ball was included. You will need to find a place to sit and... More

My girlfriend had us going to this place after hearing rave reviews and seeing it on Seinfeld. Original Soup Man is a no-nonsense hole in the wall place where you come and go in about 2 minutes, exactly what you want when you're after a quick lunch. I had the chicken & rice soup and my girlfriend had the Italian... More

We only just went to take photos (as any seinfeld fan would) so i can't review any of the food. However it was busy, which means it must be good.

Enjoyed wedding soup during a business meeting. The bread, banana and chocolate were nice additions. Doing the touristy thing, but soup and price were excellent! Ate it at a little park down the street.

Killer little hole in the wall soup place.. aside from its iconic place in Seinfeld TV immortality - the soups are incredible and even come in small sizes to 'try' a quick bite. Must visit for any soup fan in NYC

Established in 1984. In 1984 we opened our doors at 55th Street & 8th Avenue in NYC and quickly became a worldwide destination serving incredibly delicious and unique soups & Lobster Roll sandwiches. Rated #1 by Zagat and praised by the New York Times as "Art, not Soup," we set the standard for culinary excellence long before the famous "Seinfeld" episode made us a cultural icon.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
