We went here for lunch. Great brick oven pizza. Many to choose from. Very small place but worth a visit!

I've been telling my friends and family about this place since we went in January. Authentic food and service. Best pizza we've ever had. What an exceptional experience during our first visit to NYC. Thank you San Matteo.

Many styles of NYC pizza. San Matteo rocks the real Incredible crust kind. Fresh ingredients, great hosts.

We've been going to SAN Matteo on a regular basis since we moved to the neighborhood 5 years ago. This is our favorite pizza place by far in the city and we were so happy to find it so close to our home. In summer, the tables outside are very pleasant too.

I used to live next door this tiny delightful place - the owner welcomes you in Italian, takes your order and serves you authentic Italian pizza which are beyond delicious. Nothing like that anywhere in the city. The limited wine selection is also spot on.

Owner Ciro is a doll and makes you feel at home. Starters was a rolled pizza sliced vertically. Never saw this before but LOVED it! Their oven pizza is amazing but we also ordered gnocchi family style for the table and WOW was that good! Ciro recommend the wine and again it was perfect pairing for our meal. We finished... More

brought my mom here as the place is owned by people from the same town in Italy she is from and I thought she would enjoy it. When we walked in it was a very small, tight restaurant and everyone was practically sitting on top of each other. He wanted to seat us at a table for 2 in between... More

Very nice neighborhood, manager and workers are very nice, clients are interesting. I had a panuozzo and it was delicious. Prices are... More

My truffle and prosciutto pizza was really delicious. My friend has the marinara pizza, it wasn't as good. Nice cozy and warm place. But a little slow in customer service, but that didn't really bother me too much.

I used to live on 90th street before and the San Mateo restaurant (90/2) small restaurant used to be my home. The friendly owner is sweet and always nice to me and my friends. Not to mention, their french pizzas out of oven was my favorite. During my recent visit, my best friend said that little restaurants owner's brother opened... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
