A great little find while walking around the city. Really great food, good prices, and excellent service. They were really friendly - couldn't fault it

The BBQ tempeh burrito with refried beans was incredible. I loved the whole "self service" chips and salsa, something I wish more places did. Pretty busy and had a hard time getting the waiter, but other than that it was fantastic.

On our first night in NYC, we had dinner here. Our server was so kind and good at her job. She gave us one of the best customer service experiences we had in New York. The food was super tasty - lots of veggie and meat options. The quality was good, the portions were generous and the prices were good... More

I stumbled on this place on a rainy New York afternoon, looking for somewhere to get dry. The décor is bright and colourful, full of drawings pinned to the wall (most by kids, from the looks of it). It was hard to choose what to eat, the menu was so comprehensive. They have a great lunchtime special too, where you... More

Excellent Vegan and vegetarian Mexican food with an authentic taste at a reasonable price. The owner also chooses a great selection when featuring Vegan cake for dessert!

Cute little place - amazing atmosphere - fantastic service! And the food... Veggie heaven!! If you like weird little, dive-y places to eat and you're a veggie/vegan who likes Mexican food, you NEED to go!

Came here for dinner with three other friends. We waited for a couple of minutes for a table which was fine. We then sat down and ordered our drinks right away, the Margarita was great as well as the Lime Jarritos drink. The food was not good, I ordered the vegetable chilli which was not good since the only vegetable... More

This is a cute little restaurant we stumbled across on our way to have lunch at another place and stopped because the menu was so unusual and varied and there were heaps of vegetarian and vegan options although they do offer meat dishes as well. The food was amazing. The vegetarian chili is sublime and the tempeh rice pot was... More

Went to this restaurant with co-workers because of an online recco one of them read and JACKPOT! What a find! It's very non-descript and not a place you'd give it a second thought if you pass by it, but DO stop by. GREAT Mexican eats. I ordered the steak quesadillas (and they come w/ brown rice & black beans). It... More

This is a great place for both vegans and non vegans. Comfortable environment. We have been there too many times to count. Great food and customer service. There is something for everyone, with the emphasis on great tex mex options at reasonable prices. There are free chips and salsa to start. Doesn't get any better!

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
