I find Indian food in the US pretty meh. Hence we rarely eat Indian food with any interest and if we have to, just because the other choices are worse.
Junoon came highly recommended by a lot of friends so we decided to try it out. I personally do not like their model of 3 course or 5 course meal - it seriously prevents one from enjoying the many dishes on offer there. But it's what it is.
We went in for the 3 course dinner and since we were four of us, we could order four different items so that we all could taste the dishes.
Needless to say, the dishes were all extremely well made, much the same way we would make them at home or better. Very satisfying experience.
It's somewhat pricey but its New York and one needs to make one's own value judgement. For me personally the taste and the variety was worth it.

Fantastic and unique flavors and presentation! We took a chances without a reservation due to uncertain timing and got lucky -- seated right away in the front room n a Sunday evening. Ordered a la carte; our app (kale pakora and mint mousse with other flavors) and the telicherry pepper duck main really stood out. Also, three cheers for amazing mocktails! Staff were attentive and friendly, and seemed to genuinely appreciate our questions and my partner's sense of humor. The classic trio dessert offered a variety of flavors without being overwhelmed with sweetness.
One warning: be aware that your main will not automatically come with rice, the way it does at most "mainstream" Indian restaurants! Luckily we'd ordered some naan, and could use that to eat the rest of the sauce with the duck breast.

Every aspect of this meal was fabulous. The food was delicious, and beautifully presented. Portions are quite generous no one goes home hungry. The cocktails were also beautiful and very good. Our server Daniel was wonderful, accommodating and always smiling.
Highly recommend the rice pudding for dessert, ribs appetizer is amazing and is delivered in an elegant presentation, crispy eggplant, lobster entree, biryani, paneer entrees all delectable.

A Michellin star restaurant that serves goat curry with human hair in it.
Thats all I have to say.
Food was delicious but when you go to a Michellin star restaurant, you expect some quality. I am not doing justice to the tasty food by giving such a review but I have to write this negative review because Junoon wants more Michellin stars and it wont come with hairy dishes.
The hairy dish was served at Valentines day lunch to the table next to the window in Patiala room.
Food like I mentioned earlier was excellent and the deserts were super otherwise!

The food at Junoon is tasty and the atmosphere pretty but the portion size ridiculously small given how expensive it is.The fish entree $35 consisted of a one inch by 3 inch rectangle of fish, the $32 chicken consisted of three tablespoons of chicken. Plenty of sauce. Thank goodness we order d extra bread and rice. Not going back

We know this restaurant since long time .
Before the pandemic it was another level of restaurant with professional and kind staff .
Me and my fiancé wanted to spend a nice afternoon.
When we arrived we were seated next to the door (the last table of the restaurant)
Than we could finally move to the Main Dining Area.
After complaining to the server we finally got our starters after 45 minutes
The food arrived cold .
My fiancé got so upset he asked for the manager .
When the manager came he didn’t even apologize at all to us he only said we will bring you the check .
That’s not what we expected from a Michelin star restaurant

Went there for dinner with a Client and was told I could only sit at the bar or eat curb-side if I were to order a la carte. The option to either a 3 or 6 course dinner, entitled me to table service indoors. The Menu was pseudo Indian and not authenticity Indian, and extravagant and inordinate prices to boot. There are so many other Indian restaurants in NYC, which offer better Service and options to boot!

Normally I don't write restaurant reviews, but my mother (with whom I went) asked me to do so and I loved Junoon enough that I want to share our experience. Firstly, the interior of this restaurant is beautiful: thoughtful, elegant, and a little opulent but not ostentatious (I was wearing jeans and a blouse and didn't feel underdressed). We went on a Sunday night and it wasn't packed but it wasn't dead. Dinner is prix fixe, not a la carte, which is important to know (information that is prominently included on their online menus). The price for the 3 course (which also includes two daals and bread of choice) felt reasonable in the end, considering both the quality and quantity of food we received. And the service was excellent; all the people with whom we interacted were kind and attentive.
I order Indian food regularly from my nearby Indian place, but I'm a white lady with only vague familiarity at the variety and complexity of Indian cuisine. I recognized some ingredients on the menu, but is not just another neighborhood Indian restaurant; this is is Indian fine dining, dishes that are thoughtful and inventive and the best Indian I've ever eaten. I will dream about the eggplant chaat and the daal makhni and the butter naan forever. Their cocktail menu is also thoughtful and interesting, divided into "no alcohol," "low proof, "bold and strong," and "light and refreshing." I don't really drink alcohol so I was pleased that they both had no-proof cocktails and more than one or three on the menu.
TL;DR: eat here. &es, it seems a bit pricey, but compared with other restaurants in Manhattan, also pretty standard. However, it is absolutely worth it, and I cannot stress that enough.

Terrible experience, really bad service, got tricked in taking a set menu, while we did ask to eat a la carte. We didn't want to have a dessert and asked for two extra chicken dishes (we were with 4 people) which was refused. We had two bottles of wine and wanted to take the left over wine but that was refused as well. On top of all it is really expensive

5/5 across the board for food, service, cleanliness and decor.
Im new to Indian cuisine and was blown away. The staff was very friendly/professional and especially helpful with recommendations. Every suggestion was amazing. We did the 3 course tasting which was a great value. The rib appetizer, lamb chops and duck were all phenomenal, as was the naan.
The atmosphere was mildly energetic but light enough to have good conversation. Added bonus for strong drinks and generous wine pours.
Our waiter (Daniel, I believe) and a woman who I suspect to be the owner were very attentive. I will surely return. Thanks!

They have a 3 course price fixed menu ($45). I had the crispy eggplant. I had the slow roasted Goat and my wife had the lamb chops ($9 extra). The food was excellent. The service was excellent. The cocktails were very good ($19). We both had Mama's rice pudding for desert. I would eat here again.

Highly recommend this elegant Indian restaurant. They have the best lamb chops I've had in NYC, and you cannot beat the homemade Ma's Rice pudding which I've heard the recipe has been passed down multiple generations! For fish lovers, this is the place to experiment. I've had the octopus & Piri Pirir Shrimp which are both superb and my wife has raved about the lobster with rice and lentils for healthier alternate. Last, the spiced Garlic Naan is to die for. Can't wait for this restaurant to re-open early this year and make visit to new location!

We really enjoyed our lunch at junoon. The appetisers and mains were an absolute delight to look at and to eat. Desserts are an absolute must try. Service was exceptional. The young lady who served us was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to advise which dishes to leave off our order for our son with food allergies. Loved our visit.

We went for dinner on Feb 29th 2024. The food was great and the staff who waited on our table and served us were very polite and courteous. But we were in for a rude shock with the behaviour of the lady at the front desk . She made us feel extremely unwelcome and didn’t extend even the basic courtesies both during our entry and exit. She didn’t smile or welcome us during entry and neither was there a goodbye when we left. These are basic manners for people who are hosts and handling front desks especially when she was the only one handling the front desk for the restaurant that night. She had allotted a table close to the kitchen and since there were many other vacant tables at better spots , we requested for a change which she did not pay heed to. But thankfully one of the other waiters accommodated us in a better spot. She outrightly refused to serve saunf to us when we asked on our way out . ( The staff inside had mentioned to us that we could take saunf from the front desk on our way out). She kept rolling her eyes and making faces while taking and returning our jackets. I can’t believe that I came to a restaurant known as a Michelin starred restaurant where the hostess was cold and borderline rude with questionable communication skills . Her behaviour was appalling to say the least. I left feeling hurt and discriminated and left with a sour feeling on what should have been a relaxing and happy dinner enjoying Indian cuisine in New York City .
Lesser known restaurants have better hosts than the one we encountered in junoon that evening.

We loved Junoon on every level! We had a reservation after a Broadway show and we arrived at 11:07pm ... 7 minutes after their last reservation. They still seated our table with huge smiles. The service was incredible. The food was amazing and beautiful. One of us left our purse and they came and found us on the street. Extra effort everywhere! This place is a class act all around.
