This was our second time at L'ybane, in our way to the theather. This time, we were in a rush and called-in just a few minutes earlier, and they had space. The reception was nice and the waiter found a better table for us. Normally in medirerranean restaurants we go for various small plates, to share. Certainly, we had the... More

We stopped here just for a quick drink and ended up staying for dinner. Its a wine bar, but so much more. Anna our bartender was from Trinidad and has spent years in hospitality. She was so warm and friendly and made the best Cosmo I've ever had. Then switched to her white wine sangria, which was even better. She... More

Stopped here on two occasions over New Years. The first one was just for a drink. That day everything was great and the service was top notch. The second one was for lunch for a group of 3. It was pricier than most other comparable places in the neighborhood. The service was slow and the girl seemed put out that... More

The food was over-priced and the atmosphere unfriendly. We felt rushed and were made to feel uncomfortable. There are several Broadway plays within blocks of this restaurant, and we felt like they were counting on turning our table around quickly. As one of our party was looking at the check, the waitress stood beside her and literally waved her fingers... More

Whenever we go to the theater we generally eat at L'ybane. The location is perfect for the theaters and if you go early you can eat, drink, and take your time and still be on time for the show. The food is average and the prices fair. Service can be slow and it was surprising that although they list themselves... More

They had the new laser Christmas light on so all the dining guests had red & green lights shining on them. It's dimly lit & the bar was big & easy to grab 3 stools. We had prosseco & manhattans which were strongly poured. We literally just fell upon this place.

If you didn't know it was there you would pass it right by. The outside looks kind of dumpy and you see a bar. Other side of bar a cozy dining room, dimly lit with music playing. The service was good as was the food. The wine a little expensive, but, very tasty.

L'ybane bills itself as a wine bar and the choices are numerous, but it offers Mediterranean food with a French accent. The Sunday brunch is 18.85 and includes all-you-can-drink cocktails. You can have a Mimosa or Bloody "Marie", but also choices such as Sangria. The food is quite nice. Two of us had omelettes that were excellent and made to... More

Poor service, overpriced, limited menu. Nice atmosphere, fantastic location. We were served cold mussels in a hot marinara sauce, the smallest $10 bowl of soup (maybe 4-6oz., not even a full cup), an unidentified cheese plate(server couldn't tell us what cheeses he was serving), and an underwhelming salad. Disappointing.

We went here for appetizers as part of a culinary tour. The location is in the heart of Hell's Kitchen and not too far from Times Square. We had the Mediterranean Vegetarian Platter, which had a good assortment of tabouleh, hummus and babaganoush. Very tasty! The service was quick and friendly. We would definitely go back for lunch or dinner.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
