Don't expect a fine dining experience when you come here. The place is quaint and small. The Pizza is excellent (my favorite is the very spicy sopressata!) - but you should also try the starters which come in very generous portions. I had a marvelous shaved fennel salad - reading the menu I thought it might not be my thing... More

This place? So good. Small place, great staff. Had the Octopus salad which was amazing. A load of octopus, onions, capers, and olive oil. Large and satisfying. Then they had an artichoke special. My wife commented that it was the best artichoke dish she's had outside of Rome. Perfect. And then finished with a meatball pie and a margarita pie.... More

Pizza 🍕 was very good. The store was small and cramped. The service was passable. It is worth a try to judge for yourself.

Went to Motorino close to midnight and what a find! The pizza were so delicious and friendly vibe. Even though there were only two tables of customers, we still have to wait for quite a bit given there were many take away orders!

Excellent service. The place is very small, but we went around 2pm on a Saturday and had no problem getting a table for four. Our group split the Soppresatta pizza and the Prosciutto pizza and they were both pretty amazing, though the prosciutto was my favorite! Our water glasses were never even close to being empty. This was a perfect... More

We live in the neighborhood, and were excited to try something new for a quick meal on a weeknight. After ordering, we sat and sat. We had to ask for our beer a 2nd time. 15 minutes later, we got a very overdressed Kale Ceasar Salad- seriously drowning in dressing. We then waited 25 minutes more, and no pizza. Couldn't... More

Fantastic pizza is not easy to find on the UWS of Manhattan so Motorino is a welcome addition. What is especially great is that they have real appetizers and vegetables as well as a quality winelist, aspects that are impossible to find even at the best pizzerias. Great clam pizza.

My husband and I met our friend here for pizza on a Monday night. This place has been on our list of "pizza tour of NYC" that my husband and I have been slowly working through as we live here. Motorino in the East Village is a small spot. You can't make reservations and you won't be seated until your... More

Had the margherita pizza and it reminded me of the pizza I had in Naples. Fresh tomato, basil and tasty mozzarella. Crust was a little chewy, but flavorful. Pizza s are "12 and on the expensive side. Consider a margherita pizza in southern Italy is around $4, the pizza at motorino is $15. Overall, true italian pizza, but on the... More

The crust is outstanding at Motorino. The tomato sauce was light and delicious. My preference is for a little more cheese than they put on the pie but it was adequate for a truly delicious dish.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
