Stopped here because we were looking for a good soup and we were not disappointed. Not an abundance of items on the menu but everything looked appealing. I had the soup (spicy chicken) with the frittata which was very good. Rustic decor that was very comfortable. Children are encouraged to contribute their artistic talents.

We never made it in because what appears to be the door wouldn't open although a 'yes we are open' sign hangs above it. To make it worse NONE of the staff helped and we were left there embarrassed while they just stared at us. Thanks a lot

I was seriously impressed by the food at Ciao For Now. I had the Green Acres plate which had really high-quality eggs and a shockingly good chicken sausage. There is a really pleasant, intimate feel to the dining area, along with attentive service and great coffee. I will definitely be back!

I had the egg chicken wrap and it was amazing. The dish was very tasteful and so wholesome. Also very good espresso. Was really surprised with the $12.75 bill. Good value for the money. Overall service and food is excellent

I went to this spot a few times, and always had a pleasant experience. The portions and food weren't outrageous or fancy, but always the food tasted fresh and like it was made by a human, if that makes any sense. Great coffee and very friendly staff.

I had been there a few times in the past for lunch/snacks; they have just started serving dinners. Not a lot of choices on the menu, but what we had was quite tasty (although the portions are a bit small, that might be an advantage for some people ... it was nice, on a trip, to have at least one... The lady serving us was so friendly and helpful and really made the meal that much more enjoyable. She recommended the pumpkin pancakes to us as they were the seasonal item, and they were amazing. The portion was huge and she wrapped up our leftovers to take away with us. Would definitely go back when next in NYC.

We ate about 5 times (on a 10-day trip in NY) in this cosy restaurant, so that says it all. Food is really delicious as for breakfast as for lunch. And from November, on they will also open for dinner. They serve each day different specials, so there's always something to your taste. The restaurant isn't that big so if... More

Nice place for having breakfast and a coffee. Good atmosphere and good service. We had a fruit yoghurt with a muffin which was really good.

We had to wait to get a table, but they have a cafe separated from the restaurant, so we had a fun wait while drinking coffee and tea. A light, airy cafe with busy waiters. One of the tables next to us had a problem and had to send their food back - but we were pleased with all of... More

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
