I would call this upscale Indian. It's nice upstairs space. Quiet and intimate. They use modern white dishes instead of the humor usual copper plates. This little touch adds a touch of class. Good food in appropriate sized portions. The kofta is a stand out.

First off, I'm not a fan of a la carte at Indian restaurants. I prefer buffets or a meal that I can order that comes with 2 mains, rice and bread. I don't like having to order multiple separate dishes. I find it becomes very...More

I suspect not. Most of the food had either meat, onions, garlic, eggplant, potato - I certainly don't remember seeing it mentioned on the menu. That said, we had a person with lots of allergies - she was specific about... More
Is this restaurant related to the Nirvana that used to be on 59th St, and closed a few years ago. I loved that place.

One of the finest Indian restaurants in Midtown Manhattan, Nirvana offers a unique and delectable Indian dining experience. Just a short walk from Grant Central, Nirvana frequently welcomes United Nations dignitaries and other high-profile clientele. Nirvana has a sleek, stylish interior design, highlighted by the exceptional Skylight Gallery Dining Room on the 2nd floor. The exposed brick walls and exotic aromas of Indian cuisine easily inspire a romantic dining atmosphere. The warm and welcoming lounge is a comfortable area in which to enjoy a pre or post-dinner drink from the bar, whilst relaxing in the enticing leather couches by the fireplace. Classic Indian dishes such as Chicken Tikka Masala are available, alongside the chef's irresistible signature creations. These include the Rabbit Fiesta - a hearty Rabbit Stew with chilli, peas and chutney - as well as light Vegetable Samosas and Chicken Stir Fry.
