Thiru makes the best vegetarian dosas I've ever had. Also delicious veg drumsticks (soy) with sugar cane "drumstick" which you dip in sweet chili sauce! Best outdoor Village meal from a very decent guy who's been doing this a loooong time and does it well. Pondicherry is my fave! Great sides like coconut chutney to go with.

I love street food and this is exceptional. Plus I can enjoy my lunch in the beauty of Washington Sq Park. Fantastic. I live and work in Brooklyn so I'm not a regular but I'm always recognized and don't even need to give my order because he knows exactly what I always order. And I usually get a couple of... More

Came and found this man again on my second visit to NY. Gorgeous food, dairy free vegan. Nice to pick up and sit on a bench or the grass and picnic!

for dosas whenever I'm nearby for many years. Reasonably priced and well worth the wait. Why do you think there is a line when he opens? Is you like spice ask for it! I also like the vegetarian drumsticks with chili sauce!

We visited the park in a rush because we were running late for a Statue of Liberty trip. The owner was lovely and rushed to make our lunch so we made our trip in time! The food was lovely, it's amazing how they make food this tasty on a little trolley. We even got a free t-shirt!

A friend took me to this food cart and said I had to try these. Well I am so glad he did!!! These were so delicious! The gentleman who owns the cart and does all the cooking was so friendly and answered any questions even though he was busy. I absolutely loved this food!!!!

We ordered two samosas, one #2 Special Dosa and two drinks. The grand total was $15. The dosa with all of the condiments was crazy good and the samosas where generously filled, fresh and delicious. I wish we had room for more.

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
