We stopped here because we were hungry and it smelled GREAT. I had the Budhist Delight, my friend had an eggplant dish and were were both quite happy. Neither of us could finish our dish. One minor complaint "the House Soup" that comes with the combo is just good not great, but there was so much food and at such... More

Five of us shared four plates and two appetizer. Pretty good dumplings, decent spring rolls. Liked the braised duck. Loved beef with broccoli - tender meat, broccoli cooked just right. Reasonably authentic. Recommended, at least for lunch. Huge portions - split an order and share an appetizer.

We really love this restaurant. Fresh seafood, great lobster, and good lo mein. The sweet and sour shrimp are amazing. While the beef lo mein is good, we've noticed over the years that they have become very cheap with the beef. Maybe three or four pieces in a large order. Crispy spring chicken is great, too. Walnut shrimp good, too.

As a very large group, we were served large dishes of food to each table to enjoy sort of buffet style. The sesame chicken and the steak and broccoli were the best dishes! The waiters were very friendly, and helped us with directions as well as made sure we had enough to even take some dinner home with us!

This was our 2nd time at Hop Lee. It's become our go to place when we go to NYC and Chinatown. Small restaurant in the heart of Chinatown. Very authentic Chinese food. I had shrimp fried rice. My friends had chicken lo mein and general tso's chicken. We all loved it. I tried the chicken lo mein and it was... More

I first found this restaurant by chance 13 years ago when visiting new york. I've been back to new york a few time since and despite never actually writing down it's address I've managed to find it again and again. It's really good food, at an unbelievably low price. Well worth it.

I actually look forward to Jury duty as an excuse to go to Chinatown. Nothing fancy and cash only. Just excellent food

I was on a walking tour of Chinatown and this is the restaurant we ended the tour at for lunch. I was very impressed by the food and the platters were filled with house lo mein and fried rice, sweet & sour pork chops, beef and broccoli, General Taos Chicken, and sautéed string beans, all of which was very good... Had the Hot and Sour soup along with Shrimp with Black Bean Sauce. Quite good. Service was fine and not rushed. Will definitely come back. A little pricier than its neighbors, but worth it

We came to Hop Lee visiting New York's China Town for the first time. We looked at many places to eat and we decided to come to Hop Lee to eat. There looked to be a big group event of people all dressed in black. We waited for a long time before meeting an elderly women. She explained to my... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
