I met a date here for drinks on a Monday night. Angel's Share is behind an unmarked door on the left once you enter the restaurant. We arrived around 7:30 and it was just in time, because 2 people had left the bar. The seating is limited so get there early or you'll have to wait awkwardly by the door... More

My boyfriend and I traveled to NYC over the holidays. On the hunt for speakeasy bars, we came across this one. This was my favorite. You enter up rickety stairs, enter a Japanese restaurant, and the only entry is through a hidden, unmarked door. Enter into the mystery door and there you have Angels Share. We had a short wait... The drinks here are fabulous. Order off the menu as each drink has been concocted with the perfect blend of liqueurs and highly original flavors. The honey mustard sour was amazing- you wouldn't think mustard flavor would work in a drink but trust me you have to try it! The bar is quite small so don't bring a large group.... More

I'm a big fan of speakeasy-style cocktail bars, and as a result have been to quite a few, so my expectations were high as we climbed the stairs into what seemed like a regular restaurant and passed through an unmarked door into Angel's Share. Wow. Seriously amazing. The atmosphere alone was just perfect. Intimate, elegant, old school in all the... More

You enter an unmarked door and WHAALA...you are transported into a lovely room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the NYC street scene. The drink menu was extensive and the service superb!

Drinks are on the pricey side, however the quality and thought which went into formulating each drink was "WOW"

Good cocktails, quick service, and pretty spacious so easier to get a seat than your typical speakeasy style bar. Nice environment to settle down for a few drinks.

Imaginative menu of superb cocktails. Great atmosphere and staff who know how to mix. We really enjoyed a night of high end drinking here in an relaxed atmosphere. Must visit if you're into NYC nightlife to kick off the evening

My girlfriend and I came here on a weeknight, and had to go through a Chinese restaurant to find the hidden speakeasy. This was the cool part. The drinks were nothing special, with neither of us liking the menu too much.. The mural of angels is cool, but in terms of speakeasies in NY we have others we prefer.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
